Far Cry 6 is the upcoming franchise installment from Ubisoft that promises a rich experience in guerrilla warfare. The Far Cry series is known for its fascinating villains, and the new game is no exception, pitting players against a man who truly believes the ends justify the means. Unsurprisingly, this results in several factions rising up to reclaim their land.

Far Cry 6's Anton Castillo is the dictator of a small tropical island called Yara. He has created Viviro, an effective cancer treatment that Castillo intends to use as leverage to raise Yara on a global scale. Viviro is made through the harvesting of tobacco, and every region of the island is affected by its production. Thanks to Castillo's disregard for the land, and his brutal treatment of Yara's people, rebellion erupts into guerrilla warfare.

Players take on the role of Dani Rojas, one of the Far Cry 6 rebels attempting to stop Castillo. In a recent Far Cry 6 game overview trailer, fans are introduced to some of the other characters fighting back in Far Cry 6. The fighters range in motivation, whether they were thrown into the fight or someone leading the charge. The dynamic landscape of the island and scrappy guerrilla tactics are directly influenced and informed by Yara's people. Here are all the factions confirmed for Far Cry 6 so far.

All Far Cry 6 Confirmed Factions From Trailers

Far Cry 6 Montero Faction

Castillo and his army are the most obvious faction in Far Cry 6 as the dominant force on Yara. The trailer paints the antagonistic group is responsible for enslaving people and polluting the land through incredibly harsh, brutal military dominance. Though players will likely not be able to join Castillo's forces, as the RPG narrative sets Dani firmly on the side of the rebels, understanding the army's tactics and weapons will likely be an important factor in defeating them.

According to the Far Cry 6 game overview trailer, the Libertad guerrillas and their camps are "the heart of the rebellion," and the faction at the forefront of the fight for Yara's future. This is the group Dani joins, and it will be where players can assemble weapons and defense, meet new characters in Yara, and expand Libertad's camp. Dani calls the Libertad leader "hermana" in the trailer, though it's unclear if the pair are actually related or not.

There are a couple of other factions teased for Far Cry 6's main conflict, though at this point not much has been introduced about them. The Monteros are a family of tobacco farmers, likely affected and oppressed by Castillo's Viviro production. Maximas Matanzas and La Morale are described as younger groups reckoning with the increasing violence in Yara, desperate to fight back.  Most interesting and helpful to players will likely be the Legends of 67, a veteran group of guerrilla fighters who can teach those in Far Cry 6 about inflicting chaos by whatever means necessary.
