Ubisoft has announced three Far Cry 6 DLC episodes that are slated to release throughout 2021 and 2022. Each DLC can be experienced in single-player or co-op and expands on the stories of Far Cry villains Vaas Montenegro, Pagan Min, and Joseph Seed. The DLC episodes will delve into the minds and backstories of the series' beloved villains, voiced by the original cast. Vaas: Insanity, Pagan: Control, and Joseph: Collapse are all unique stories set in the Far Cry world that will release soon after Far Cry 6's release.

Far Cry's iconic villains have been a staple of the series since its inception, but Far Cry 6's DLCs will be the first time players can control their arch nemeses. Far Cry 6's DLC trailer has been well-received, but the final products are still months away. This will be the first time Ubisoft has allowed players to control Far Cry's villains in-game without mods, introducing a unique playstyle to the open-world survival franchise. Each DLC will release within several months of one another and are included in Far Cry 6's Season Pass.

Far Cry 6's first DLC episode is Vaas: Insanity and will release November 2021. There is no set date for its release, meaning delays are entirely possible depending on development speed. Vaas Montenegro first appeared in Far Cry 3, acting as the primary antagonist for the first half of the game and secondary antagonist for the second half. His famous "definition of insanity" monologue crafted a unique and chilling narrative climax. Vaas' death remained unconfirmed, as his 'death' only occurs in the dream state of player character Jason Brody.

Far Cry 6's Pagan: Control DLC episode is slated for a January 2022 release, ensuring Far Cry 6's continued development in the new year. Like Vaas: Insanity, Pagan: Control does not have a set release date. With Far Cry 6's DLCs likely still in development, players can expect more information closer to the new year. Pagan: Control will focus on Pagan Min, the antagonist of Far Cry 4 and self-proclaimed King of Kyrat. Pagan Min's ultimate fate is in players' hands, once again leaving the villain's canonical fate unclear.

Far Cry 6's third DLC is Joseph: Collapse, scheduled for a March 2022 release. Joseph: Collapse is the final confirmed DLC, though Ubisoft may have plans for more depending on Far Cry 6's success. In Joseph: Collapse, players will control Joseph Seed, the antagonist of Far Cry 5 and New Dawn. Joseph Seed is also known as "The Father" and leads a post-apocalyptic cult throughout Hope County, Montana. His bloody, psychotic tendencies are rivaled only by the fierce dedication of his cult following. Joseph Seed reappears in Far Cry New Dawn, where players face a similar choice to Vaas and Pagan, and decide Joseph Seed's final outcome.

It's unknown whether Ubisoft will develop other DLCs to expand on Far Cry 6's story in Yara, centered around Dani Rojas and the guerilla rebellion against dictator Antón Castillo. For now, it appears additional content will focus on separate stories outside of Dani's adventures. Far Cry 6 releases October 7, 2021, on Xbox, PlayStation, Amazon Luna, Google Stadia, and PC, with its DLCs releasing months after in November 2021, January 2022, and March 2022.
