Far Cry 6 has quite a few weapons that players can get early on, and the best of them are found within the first couple hours of gameplay. As players wash up on Isla Santuario, they're left without any weapons as they take their first steps in exploring Far Cry 6's open environment. The first weapons Dani receives are a machete, a sidearm, and a weak auto-rifle that leaves much to be desired.
While Far Cry 6 offers players the ability to upgrade their weapons, finding the materials takes more time than it's worth for the starting weapons. Players can save a lot of time finding the four unique weapons scattered across Isla Santuario. Searching for unique weapons is also a great way to become familiar with the island's layout.
Unique weapons have defining traits that separate them from other versions in their weapon types, be it a shotgun, auto-rifle, or sidearm. They come with additional modifications in Far Cry 6 that aren't readily available the first time players attempt to upgrade their weapons at a workbench. The only downside of unique weapons is that they can't be improved, but for the beginning of Far Cry 6 this won't be an issue. The best weapons to get first in Far Cry 6 are:
- MS16 S
- Autocrat Pistol
- Viva Libertad
- El General
- Humidora
Where To Find The Best Starting Weapons In Far Cry 6
Fortunately, finding the MS16 S, Autocrat Pistol, and El General is all part of the early missions. After Dani arrives on Isla Santuario, it doesn't take more than 1-2 hours to find each weapon by just running through the missions. Players are free to roam around Far Cry 6 and grab these weapons before starting any missions, although the beginning missions do unlock some key features like the parachute and workbench. Additionally, even though the MS16 S isn't a unique weapon, it's still a powerful weapon to use at the beginning of Far Cry 6, and for some time afterward.
MS16 S
The MS16 S is automatically earned during the "Juan of a Kind" mission. After meeting Juan Cortez and Guapo, Juan sends Dani to a military checkpoint on the way back to Clara García. The MS16 S is the weapon Dani grabs from one of the crates, and it's a power rifle that Dani should have equipped for a while. Juan has Dani add a Resolver Suppressor to the MS16 S, and after finding more weapon materials shortly thereafter the player can add a 4x ACOG scope and Armor Piercing Rounds. Although it's not a unique weapon, the MS16 S makes quick work of most enemies up until a better rifle is earned - and it's worth using until players can get the best sniper rifle in Far Cry 6.
Autocrat Pistol
The Autocrat Pistol can be easily acquired during the "Du or Die" mission. Once Dani is inside Fort Quito, head to the ground level and turn around to find an unlocked door. Inside the room is a ladder that leads down to a secure armory. Break the wooden pallets and head through the hole in the fence. Open the Gator Case on the right to grab the Autocrat Pistol, the first unique weapon. The Autocrat Pistol comes with:
- Armor-Piercing Rounds
- Trigger Discipline (3 Star Mod): Improves the Autocrat's weapon damage when aiming down sights.
- Gut-Wrencher (3 Star Mod): Improves body shot weapon damage.
Viva Libertad
Despite Far Cry 6's workbench tutorial requiring Dani to spend upgrade materials on the FAL for Soft-Target Rounds, the Viva Libertad can be earned shortly after the Du or Die mission. After completing the Du or Die mission, head to the Northernmost part of the land on the left side of Quito Bay. The Punto Norte Lighthouse stands tall at the edge of the land with a shack below it. Inside the shack on the right side is a Gator Case. Open it to receive the Viva Libertad. Viva Libertad is a unique FAL auto rifle that comes with:
- Soft-Target Rounds
- Resolver Laser Point: Slightly improves the bullet spread when firing from the hip.
- Fast Reload (3 Star Mod): Improves reload speed.
- Headshot Supremo (4 Star Mod): Headshot kills reward bonus Supremo charge.
El General
El General is an auto-pistol that can be acquired before or during the "Fuel the Revolution" mission. It's an earlier mission that occurs shortly after Du or Die, but regardless El General is a quick and easy weapon to grab. Head to the FND Munitions Storage on the Western side of Vencejo, slightly Northwest above Armonía when Dani met Juan Cortez. The munitions building has a ladder inside that leads to the basement, where the Gator Case will be located near some empty missile heads. El General is a unique weapon that comes with:
- Blast Rounds (3 Star Mod): Deals blast damage in an area, is greatly effective against vehicles, can break bulletproof windshields, and impairs weapon damage.
- Trigger Discipline
- Nimble Shooter (2 Star Mod): Improves movement speed while aiming down sights.
Humidora
Humidora is an incendiary shotgun found in Corto Cay, the Southeastern beachside east of the Acunana Farmland in Quito. The perfect time to grab Humidora is right after completing Du or Die, because the "Fire and Fury" mission requires Dani to burn the Viviro prison camp. Alternatively, Humidora can be grabbed after Clara asks Dani to speak with Benito, because Benito is near the weapon's location.
The Punto Este Lighthouse is where Humidora can be found in Far Cry 6. Use the grappling hook to climb the lighthouse. The Gator Case is located just inside the top of the lighthouse. Humidora is a unique weapon that comes with:
- Incendiary Shells (4 Star Mod): Deals fire damage in a small area, spreads fire that deals damage over time, and impairs weapon damage. Although not directly stated in the attachment description, Incendiary Shells are great for knocking enemies out of vehicles.
- Red Dot Sight (2 Star Mod): Slightly zoomed in short-range sight.
- Fresh Clip (2 Star Mod): First shot after reloading deals improved damage.
