Kevin Feige teased what fans can expect from their cast of the upcoming Fantastic Four. After numerous attempts by 20th Century Fox to launch a Fantastic Four franchise, Marvel Studios is finally set to bring the first family of comics into the MCU, as confirmed at the Disney Investor Call in 2020. Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts is set to direct the upcoming film, but no release date has been confirmed as of yet.

Ever since the announcement, speculation has been running rampant on who should play the iconic characters in the MCU. There is a lot of pressure given the past missteps of the previous Fantastic Four and the characters being some of Marvel's most famous. Many fans have suggested real-life couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt play Reed Richards and Susan Storm, but both have denied their involvement, with Blunt in particular expressing frustration with being asked the question in interviews.

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige teased what fans can expect from the MCU Fantastic Four. Feige didn't give any strong indicators on who would be cast but said like past Marvel Studios films they are looking at a blend of established actors as well as newcomers. What concerns Feige is finding the right actor for the part. Read his full quote below:

"I think the MCU is a beautiful combination of both (established actors and new faces)...I think you look no further than Simu in Shang-Chi, like Chris Hemsworth, like Tom Hiddleston, like Tom Holland, an actor that hadn't been seen by a tremendous amount of people before, or you have a Benedict stepping into Doctor Strange or Christian Bale stepping into Gor in our Thor film. It is always a beautiful combination of both, and it really is about the search for the best actor for the job whether that actor is known to the world yet or not."

Much of Marvel Studios' success has been in finding the right actors to play these iconic heroes. Established actors like Robert Downey Jr., Benedict Cumberbatch, and Mark Ruffalo share the universe with actors like Chris Hemsworth, Tom Holland, and now Simu Liu, where the MCU has taken them and made them high profile movie stars. With the few exceptions that required some recasting, Marvel Studios' track record for casting has been a highlight of the franchise. And it's one that has worked at capturing what is needed for the character.

When it comes to the Fantastic Four, there will be some time until Marvel unveils an official cast. Marvel Studios recently just started meeting with writers for the film, suggesting the film most likely will not arrive in theaters until 2023 at the earliest. The Fantastic Four casting could begin sooner than their own film if the characters are set to appear in another MCU project before their own, like an appearance in the upcoming Secret Invasion or even Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Whenever the Fantastic Four finally gets cast, the anticipation is high to finally see the heroes that laid the groundwork for the modern Marvel universe in the comics to get the proper big-screen treatment they've always deserved.
