Marvel is bringing back the Fantastic Four's biggest milestones for the team's 60th anniversary. Fantastic Four Anniversary Tribute #1 will revisit the very first issue, as well as one of Marvel's biggest weddings.

In September of 2020, Marvel published Giant-Size X-Men: Tribute to Wein & Cockrum #1 celebrating the 45th anniversary of Uncanny X-Men: Second Genesis, which revitalized the X-Men with a new cast. In March 2021, Captain America Anniversary Tribute #1 released, which celebrated Captain America's 80th anniversary by revisiting Captain America's debut and return. Now, the Fantastic Four is going to have their own anniversary special in the same vein.

Fantastic Four Anniversary Tribute #1 has been announced by Marvel. This special giant-sized issue issue will allow today's top artists to recreate the team's biggest moments. The Fantastic Four debuted in their self-titled series in 1961, while Fantastic Four Annual #3 from 1965 featured the wedding of Sue Storm and Reed Richards. Both of these issues were written by Stan Lee and drawn by Jack "the King" Kirby, so the artists have very large shoes to fill. Check out the cover and variant cover here:

The cover revisiting the Fantastic Four's debut issue is illustrated by Steve McNiven. The variant cover revisiting Fantastic Four Annual #3 is illustrated by Jim Cheung. If the covers are anything to go by, the art in this anniversary issue will be spectacular. The recreation of Fantastic Four #1 has made some subtle changes, such as placing the team in their iconic costumes. Thus far, this cover seems to have removed the speech bubbles and other text boxes that the original had. The team's members need no introduction considering their lengthy history and long-term popularity.

Another change on this newly revealed cover from Marvel includes a shift in clothes for the bystanders in the background. Their outfits have been modernized. More effects have also been drawn in, with additional detail, while a figure from the original cover's background (seemingly a police officer) is no longer visible as a result of the added smoke. Fantastic Four Annual #3 revisited is nearly identical to the original as all the characters on the cover are the same and are in the same places. The updated version just adds more detail and depth to each of them, giving it a more modern look.

Executive editor, Tom Brevoort from Marvel says, "This issue not only reimagines that initial FANTASTIC FOUR issue from 1961 through the vision of the artists of today, but also the later story from FANTASTIC FOUR ANNUAL #3 in which Reed and Sue were married and the entire Marvel Universe of the period showed up. There's really no better way to commemorate this anniversary than by revisiting these classic works anew."

The full line-up of artists for this giant issue is as follows: Aco, Aaron Kuder, Adam Hughes, Albert Monteys, Alessandro Cappuccio, Bryan Hitch, Cafu, Carlos Pacheco, Chris Sprouse, Daniel Warren Johnson, David Lapham, Elsa Charretier, and Erica D'Urso. More Marvel artists working on this anniversary special include Federico Vicentini, Greg Land, Javier Rodríguez, John Cassaday, John Romita Jr., Kate Niemczyk, Kei Zama, Leinil Francis Yu, Leonard Kirk, Lucas Werneck, Luciano Vecchio, Marco Checchetto, Mattia de Iulis, Michael Allred, Mike del Mundo, Neal Adams, Nic Klein, Olivier Coipel, Paco Medina, Patch Zircher, Pepe Larraz, Ray-Anthony Height, Rod Reis, Ron Frenz, Simone di Meo, Stefano Caselli, Steve Epting, Tom Reilly, Salvador Larroca, Jorge Fornes, Kim Jacinto, Walt Simonson, Leonardo Ortolani, Sanford Greene, Terry Dodson, and Mark Bagley.
