Marvel's Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four trended on social media following rumors John Krasinski (A Quiet Place) met with Marvel Studios for a role in the MCU. Ever since Disney's purchase of Fox, Marvel fans have been eager for both the X-Men and Fantastic Four to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Previously, Fox oversaw a mostly successful X-Men franchise that spanned two generations of mutants across 13 films. Their Fantastic Four movies, however, weren't anywhere near as successful, with the most recent, 2015's Fant4stic, performing especially poorly.

But now that both properties reside under the Disney banner, it really is just a matter of time before X-Men and Fantastic Four characters are introduced in the MCU. As recently as 2019's San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige confirmed that a Fantastic Four movie is in development. No further details beyond that have been announced, but just knowing there are plans for the Fantastic Four to appear in the MCU's future has fans excited. So excited, in fact, that many fans already have a favorite actor in mind to play the MCU's Mr. Fantastic - John Krasinski. For his part, Krasinski has been nothing but enthusiastic about the idea, but he's also said he trusts Feige to pick the right actor for the role, whether that ends up being him or not.

Now, new rumors are swirling around that claim John Krasinski has recently spoken with Feige about getting involved in the MCU. These meetings (which are said to have taken place via video call as so many meetings must these days) aren't thought to have been about any specific MCU project or contribution on his part, but the merest mention of Krasinski's name and MCU together has made Reed Richards, the civilian name of the Fantastic Four's Mr. Fantastic, trend on social media sites like Twitter.

John Krasinski in Jack Ryan Season 2 Amazon Prime

Just earlier this week, Krasinski appeared to tease the possibility of him playing a comic book superhero on his new weekly web show, Some Good News. The tease was likely just that, something to rile up fans who have been pushing for Krasinski to play Mr. Fantastic for years now. Then again, if Krasinski really has been holding meetings with Marvel, the tease could always grow into something more. For years, fans have been shouting for Rosario Dawson to play a live-action version of Star Wars' Ahsoka Tano, and that could very well be what's happening in The Mandalorian season 2.

While the rumors about Krasinski meeting with Feige remain unsubstantiated, fans should continue making their preference known for the former-star-of-The Office-turned-horror-director to be cast as the MCU's Mr. Fantastic. If the excitement over some rumors can get Reed Richards trending, there's no telling how much of a fervor fans could stir up for Krasinski to play the role in the MCU's Fantastic Four.
