Several actors have been rumored to be cast in Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four since the film was announced in 2019. After two previous attempts to bring Marvel's First Family to life at Fox, Disney's acquisition of the film studio in 2019 means Marvel Studios will reboot the superhero team in the MCU. Currently, Fantastic Four is slated for release on February 14, 2025, as part of the MCU's Phase 6, and WandaVision's Matt Shakman is attached to direct after Spider-Man: Homecoming's Jon Watts left the project in 2020. With the formation of the team just around the corner, many are wondering who will be cast in these coveted roles.

Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four debuted in 1961's Fantastic Four #1, and marked the first superhero team created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, leading to them being affectionately dubbed "Marvel's First Family." Comprised of Reed Richards, Sue Storm, her brother Johnny Storm, and Reed's childhood friend Ben Grimm, the team gain superpowers after being exposed to cosmic radiation during a mission to space, soon after forming a superhero team to fight crime as the Fantastic Four. Fox brought the team to life twice in 2005 and 2015, but Marvel Studios will cast new actors as the Fantastic Four in the MCU, and many have already been rumored.

1 Adam Driver (Reed Richards)

Kylo Ren on his ship in The Rise of Skywalker.

Although initial speculation led to many placing Adam Driver in the role of the Fantastic Four's villain, Doctor Doom, recent theories suggest he may actually fill the role of Reed Richards himself. In fact, DanielRPK (via The Direct) has claimed that Driver is in "final talks" to portray Reed Richards in the MCU's Fantastic Four. Driver is no stranger to franchise films, as he previously made himself known as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, though the actor has also had acclaimed roles in Logan Lucky, Paterson, BlacKkKlansman, and Marriage Story opposite the MCU's Scarlett Johansson.

2 Penn Badgley (Reed Richards)

Penn Badgley is known for his roles of Dan Humphrey in Gossip Girl and Joe Goldberg in Netflix's smash-hit series You. During an interview on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Badgley was questioned about fan-castings placing him in the role of the MCU's Reed Richards, to which the actor responded with a coy, "I can't reveal that. Neither confirm nor deny." This reserved response to questioning suggests that talks may have been happening to feature Badgley in Fantastic Four, though nothing has yet been confirmed by either Badgley himself or Marvel Studios.

3 Ryan Gosling (Reed Richards?)

When the rumor mill was spinning about the cast for the MCU's Thunderbolts, Ryan Gosling's name popped up as a potential actor to take on the role of Sentry, perhaps Thunderbolts' villain. Jeff Sneider claimed on the Hot Mic Podcast that this rumor was false, but that Gosling had been speculated to appear in Fantastic Four instead. Though there has been no comment about this potential casting, it's possible that Gosling could fill the role of Reed Richards in Fantastic Four, as he has had leading roles in films such as Drive, La La Land, Blade Runner 2049, and The Notebook, and will soon appear as Ken in Barbie.

4 John Krasinski (Reed Richards)

The Office's John Krasinski was a popular fan-casting for Reed Richards in the MCU long before most of these rumored actors, so much so that Marvel Studios cast Krasinski as a variant of Reed Richards for the character's debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This version of Reed was a member of Earth-838's Illuminati team, and though it was great to see Krasinski assume the role after months of rumors, it's unclear whether he'll be reprising the role for the main MCU universe's version of Mister Fantastic. It would perhaps make sense for Krasinski to be cast as the main Reed Richards, though nothing has yet been confirmed.

5 Emily Blunt (Sue Storm)

Emily Blunt in A Quiet Place Part II

Should Krasinski be cast as the MCU's Reed Richards, Emily Blunt, his real-world wife, would perhaps be the perfect choice to portray Sue Storm, as the pair eventually end up getting married. Blunt's experience on projects such as A Quiet Place, Mary Poppins Returns, and The Girl on the Train means she is definitely versatile enough to portray the Invisible Woman, potentially alongside her husband as Mister Fantastic. Blunt has almost had a role in the MCU previously, as well, as she was offered the role of Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. Black Widow, though turned it down, allowing Johansson to step into the role for Iron Man 2.

6 Margot Robbie (Sue Storm)

One of the more recent rumors surrounding Fantastic Four suggests that Margot Robbie has been in talks to portray Sue Storm in the Phase 6 film. This speculation places Robbie as Sue Storm alongside Adam Driver's Reed Richards and Paul Mescal's Johnny Storm, perhaps meaning the cast of Fantastic Four is very nearly assembled. Robbie has superhero franchise experience, as she has appeared as Harley Quinn in DCEU projects from 2016's Suicide Squad onwards, but has a vast catalog of varied and complex roles that would make her a brilliant fit for the MCU's Sue Storm.

7 Mila Kunis (Sue Storm)

Soon after Shakman was confirmed to be taking over as Fantastic Four's director, pictures were taken of Shakman meeting with Mila Kunis (via DailyMail), with many speculating this was a discussion over a potential role in Fantastic Four. With acclaimed roles in films such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Black Swan, and Bad Moms, Kunis has the star-power to debut as the MCU's Sue Storm in Phase 6, and could even pull off slightly more comedic scenes featuring the team, as she has voiced Meg Griffin in Family Guy since 1999. It's yet to be seen whether this conversation was about Sue Storm, a different role in Fantastic Four or something else entirely.

8 Jodie Comer (Sue Storm)

Jodie Comer became known internationally after starring as Villanelle in the BBC's hit spy thriller series Killing Eve, and has since had major roles in projects such as Free Guy and The Last Duel, and is set to appear opposite Austin Butler and Tom Hardy in the upcoming The Bikeriders. Comer's poise and presence would make her perfect for the MCU's Sue Storm. When questioned recently on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, she stated that, while she hadn't heard anything, "never say never." Comer claims to have not met with Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, though many MCU actors have used this response in the past.

9 Rachel Brosnahan (Sue Storm)

Perhaps best known for appearing as stand-up comedian Miriam "Midge" Maisel in Amazon Prime Video's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Rachel Brosnahan has also been rumored to be appearing as Sue Storm in the MCU's Fantastic Four. During an interview with ETOnline, Brosnahan claimed she hadn't heard anything from Marvel Studios, but is about to be available as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is coming to an end. With a multitude of other major film and TV appearances under her belt, Brosnahan would be a brilliant asset to the MCU, and interestingly fills the more comedic role that many of these rumored actors possess.

10 Paul Mescal (Johnny Storm)

Alongside Driver and Robbie, Mescal has been speculated to be appearing as Johnny Storm, rounding out three-out-of-four of the MCU's Fantastic Four cast, with fans still unclear on who will portray Ben Grimm, a.k.a. the Thing. Rising to fame as Connell Waldron in the mininseries Normal People, Mescal has more recently appeared in The Lost Daughter opposite Olivia Colman, and Aftersun as Calum, a role which earned him an Academy Award nomination. Mescal is a brilliant up-and-coming actor who would fill the role of Johnny Storm to perfection, so his potential casting is very exciting.

11 Austin Butler (Johnny Storm)

Austin Butler in The Shannara Chronicles

Following a starring role as Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann's Elvis, earning him an Academy Award nomination, Butler has been speculated to be appearing as Johnny Storm in the MCU's Fantastic Four. While mostly starring in TV roles, Butler broke into film with 2015's The Intruders, and has since had roles in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and The Dead Don't Die, and is set to appear in The Bikeriders alongside Comer, and in Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two. Butler would be a fantastic asset to the MCU's Fantastic Four, though nothing has yet been confirmed about any of the upcoming film's cast.
