Jude Law confirms Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is finally getting another trailer this Thursday. Harry Potter's controversial prequel series Fantastic Beasts is gearing up for the release of its third film after some unexpected delays. Originally scheduled to premiere in November 2021, Fantastic Beasts 3 was pushed back when filming was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The film also endured an extra obstacle in the form of Johnny Depp being let go; Mads Mikkelsen was later brought in to fill the role of dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. After all that, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is now set to arrive in theaters this April.

Set after the events of 2018's Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, The Secrets of Dumbledore will further the conflict between the forces of good and Grindelwald's growing army. Wary of Grindelwald's power but unable to move against him himself, Albus Dumbledore (Law) sends magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and a team around the world on a mission that could prove vital in the brewing wizarding war. Fantastic Beasts 3 will see the returns of several franchise players, including Katherine Waterston, Dan Folger, Alison Sudol, Callum Turner, William Nadylam, and Ezra Miller.

With Fantastic Beasts 3 just under two months away from release, fans really are overdue for a new trailer. Overall reception to the franchise is still mixed, especially since The Crimes of Grindelwald was the worst-reviewed Harry Potter movie yet. Author J.K. Rowling remains a controversial figure, so it could be that Warner Bros. is exercising extra caution when it comes to promoting Fantastic Beasts. Nevertheless, the upcoming trailer can go a long way in drumming up more excitement for the next installment in Newt's journey.

The additional bit of Law's message encouraging fans to share their Dumbledore pride is an interesting element that seems to confirm what the movie's title already suggested. The Secrets of Dumbledore is going all in on putting a greater focus on Albus, something that has inspired both excitement and resignation from fans. Law said in the video that more of Dumbledore's backstory will be revealed in Fantastic Beasts 3, and perhaps some of that will even be alluded to in the new trailer. As so much of Dumbledore's life was discussed in Harry Potter, it will be quite interesting to see how the new movie offers an updated perspective on the characters fans know so well. All will become clearer this Thursday.
