The new trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is officially set for release this Monday. The film is the latest entry in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which began when the first of the seven Harry Potter novels was released in 1997. The magical saga follows a young boy discovering that he possesses magical powers and being whisked away to study at Hogwarts, a school for wizards and witches. The juggernaut film franchise launched in 2001 with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and a cadre of venerable British actors filling out the adult ensemble.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which was released in 2016, was loosely based on a school textbook assigned to Hogwarts students in the Harry Potter universe. It follows the book's author, Newt Scamander, on his adventures discovering and cataloguing various magical creatures, which take him to America in 1926. The sequel Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald had Scamander and his friends cross paths with Grindelwald, the first great Dark Wizard of the 20th century and the predecessor to Voldemort. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, which comes to theaters in April 2022, will continue that plot thread. The film will explore the backstory of Dumbledore (Jude Law) and how it relates to Ezra Miller's mysterious new character Credence, who is now in Grindelwald's (Mads Mikkelsen) clutches.

Today on their official Twitter, Warner Bros. confirmed the release date of the new trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. The studio announced that it would be arriving this Monday, December 13, 2021. Unfortunately, WB didn't specify what time the trailer would be dropping, but fans can at least be on the look out.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore was directed by former Harry Potter movie director David Yates. The film stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Callum Turner, William Nadylam, Poppy Corby-Tuech, Jessica Williams, with Law again appearing as the younger version of Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore. Mikkelsen is replacing Johnny Depp as Grindelwald. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will follow Dumbledore asking Scamander and his companions to face off against the growing ranks of Grindelwald's supporters, which now includes their former friend Queenie Goldstein (Sudol).

The trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will certainly be able to give more insight into how these plot threads will be developed. Hopefully, it will also give fans a glimpse into the new magical communities the film will be exploring in Bhutan, Germany, and China. There is a lot of complicated backstory from the previous two films that will be addressed in this new entry, so the trailer has a lot of ground to cover as the wizarding world heads into the turmoil of World War II.
