Newt Scamander is off on a book tour in the latest Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 photo tease. In just a little over a year, Warner Bros and J.K. Rowling will deliver their follow-up to the worldwide hit Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. More of a spinoff set in the shared Wizarding World universe than a Harry Potter prequel, the first movie followed the exploits of famed magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), as he completed his work on the titular book. In doing so, the film elaborated on a small piece of the lore from the original Harry Potter books.

The sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will take things a number of steps forward, by both pulling young Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) into the narrative and bringing Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) further out of the shadows. In doing so, the movie will further reveal the role that Newt played in Grindelwald's rise to power and subsequent defeat at Dumbledore's hands. At the same time, Newt will be doing a good deal of traveling in the sequel, bringing him into contact with more magical creatures and locations in the process.

The Fantastic Beasts Twitter account has posted a new photo that confirms that Newt will be traveling the world on a book tour, around the time that Fantastic Beasts 2 picks up. You can check out said photo, below:

In the first Fantastic Beasts movie, Newt traveled to the U.S. in order to both complete an important task and finish researching creatures for his book. As the photo above confirms, however, the first edition of Newt's book will have been published by the time Fantastic Beasts 2 gets underway. Presumably, Newt will be drawn deeper into the conflict between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, over the course of his book tour.

It's still unclear just how the two iconic wizards will play into a story that was originally conceived as a trilogy following Newt's exploits. Rowling has announced plans to make five Fantastic Beasts movies total, suggesting the film series will ultimately act as more of a proper prequel to the Harry Potter films and books than the originally-announced trilogy would have.

Much of Newt Scamander's history has already been revealed by Rowling, so the Fantastic Beasts movies will presumably aims to drop some bombshells about his real backstory. For now, however, it appears that the focus will remain on Newt as an author and magizoologist.
