Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four just got a new round of rumors that tease what the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Sue Storm might look like. Fantastic Four is currently slated to open in theaters in 2025, with the movie having the difficult job of cleaning up the team's image after the last attempt of bringing Marvel's First Family to the big screen — 2015's Fantastic Four (aka FANT4STIC) — failed spectacularly. A new rumor previews Marvel's approach to casting the Fantastic Four, starting with Sue Storm.

According to Jeff Sneider on THE HOT MIC podcast, Marvel Studios is using Madame Web's Dakota Johnson as the prototype for Sue Storm.

Obviously, the multiverse-focused Madame Web movie from Sony takes out Johnson herself from being in the running for the coveted role of Sue Storm in Marvel's Fantastic Four, although the idea that the MCU is going for an actress similar to Johnson for the part is certainly interesting. Check out the full quote below:

We’re looking at that 30-35 age range and, from what I understand, Dakota Johnson is the prototype.

When To Expect The Fantastic Four Cast To Be Revealed

Marvel's Fantastic Four movie has been receiving a slew of updates as of late, following a long period with no word on the project. WandaVision's Matt Shakman is set to direct the film, bringing Marvel's First Family to life after MCU Spider-Man trilogy director Jon Watts exited the movie. Shakman recently revealed that the casting rumors for the MCU Fantastic Four movie are false and that the film is gearing up to begin production in early 2024.

Shakman's mention of the Fantastic Four casting rumors is connected to the wide array of Hollywood A-listers who have had their names mentioned in relation to the project in a series of rumors over the past year. Some of the biggest names involved in the rumor mill for Fantastic Four are Ryan Gosling, Diego Luna, Jodie Comer, Saoirse Ronan, Emily Blunt, and, of course, John Krasinski. The latter has always been a fan-favorite for the role of Mister Fantastic, something that has only grown after his Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cameo. Krasinski's Reed Richards return is possible, although unlikely if some of the recent rumors are true.

According to Sneider, Sue is going to be played by an actress in the 30-35 age range, something that earlier rumors have hinted to be the case for the whole cast. Another recent rumor mentioned that casting for Fantastic Four is set to ramp up this month, with Sue Storm being the first role Marvel wants to lock. With Fantastic Four set to shoot in early 2024, the movie's cast has to be fully completed this year. Going by Marvel's usual operating style, it is probable that July's San Diego Comic-Con will see the official announcement of the cast for the important MCU Fantastic Four team.
