Fans of The Kardashians were paying close attention to Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker's Italian wedding, but they didn't love everything about it. The family undoubtedly had a wonderful time, but some fans weren't as blown away by the events' fashion choices and theming as the party guests were. The dark and sexy undertones were on brand for the couple, who have been living in a gothic fairytale even since they started dating a-year-and-a-half ago.

Over the last year, all of Hollywood and western media have seemed entirely captivated by Kourtney and Travis's love story. Everyone has seen Kravis's public displays of affection, the teeny tiny bikinis, Kourtney's punk rock aesthetic glow-up, and now a series of nuptial events ranging in legality. In many ways, the non-visual elements of their relationship are what remains mysterious, but what's evident is that they were more than ready to lock it down for life. Kravis's first Las Vegas wedding was purely ceremonial as the couple didn't arrive in time to get their paperwork done. Then they were legally married officially at a Santa Barbara courthouse. Finally came the extravagant wedding in Portofino, Italy.

Travis and Kourtney rented the historic Castello Brown for the biggest event yet. However, while the Portofino wedding made a big splash in pop culture, not everyone was impressed with the family's fashion and vibe of the event. Even The Independent's  Tanya Sweeney called the "Mafia-style wedding a crime against fashion." For her gown, Kourtney wore a Dolce & Gabbana mini dress paired with a cathedral veil depicting the Virgin Mary. The design was a nod to Travis's head tattoo, adding another layer of intimacy. Similarly, Kourtney donned the Virgin Mary on the bodice of her black reception wedding party dress, which felt like a call back to Kim Kardashian's dress in 2014. Both her dress for the ceremony and the reception were short. While not a traditional bridal look, it paired well with Travis's endless punk rock aesthetics. Unfortunately, not everyone celebrated the fashion aesthetic of sex-pot meets religious undertones. Tannourlene tweeted, "I love Catholic imagery when done correctly, but Kourtney & Travis' wedding was so tacky."

Then again, some embraced the Italian energy, even if it was a bit costume-esque at times, as Kourtney and Travis sparked a surge in Italian weddings. The Virgin Mary theming was cemented, and Dolce & Gabbana might as well of sponsored the event. While many took issue with the short dresses, others celebrated the bold and campy vibes even if they admitted it was tacky. Hol wrote on Twitter, "Feel like I'm the only person in the world that loved Kourtney's whole wedding outfit reminded me of Baz Luhrman's Romeo and Juliet but then again, everyone does say that I love tacky shit." Rebecca Reid agreed, saying, "Sorry, but I love Kourtney Kardashian's wedding aesthetic. I'm just a tacky Italian widow in my soul."Papi also tweeted, "ykw I'm fine with Kourtney wedding being tacky down. just know Kendall and kylie weddings WILL give regalia."

Ultimately, disappointment was abundant for audiences expecting the highest fashion moment possible from The Kardashians and their new extended family. However, for Kardashian fans who don't mind campy playfulness or a little extra leg, the Italian wedding could go down as the best Kardashian-Jenner wedding yet. For those waiting for more wedding fashion, there will be more Kardashian weddings to come in the future. Until then, skeleton onesies, blue eye shadow, and sweetheart-mini dresses reign freely at Kravis events.
