Matt Roloff from Little People, Big World is being scrutinized for seeming to prefer his grandson, Jackson Roloff. Matt built the family farm in the hopes that generations of Roloffs would spend time there. The toddler Jackson has always taken an interest in daily farm activities, and this has warmed Matt's heart.

After Matt finally was able to buy his ex-wife Amy Roloff's share of the family farm, fans started to think that he would achieve his goal of being able to sell the rest to his son, Zach Roloff. Sadly, negotiations seemed to fall through, and Zach and his wife walked away once and for all. Even though the patriarch claims that Zach and Jeremy Roloff weren't interested in buying the farm, fans always thought that was the plan. Now, with no farm, Matt is noticing that he isn't hanging out with his buddy Jackson as much.

It isn't hard to understand why Matt would gravitate towards little Jackson, since he sees the toddler so much more than his other grandchildren. Matt and Jackson enjoy the same hobbies, including riding around on ATVs, working in the pumpkin patch, and daydreaming on the farm. For seasons, viewers have been aware that Matt is very attached to Jackson. It could be because he was the first Roloff grandchild.

The two may also bond because they are both little people. Matt has enjoyed making multiple stepladders for his grandson, and teaching him how to navigate in the world. Matt also dedicated his children's book to Jackson. While it may have been cruel to leave out the other grandchildren, it made sense, since Jackson was always around, helping on the family farm. Up until season 23, everything that Matt did seemed to be for Jackson's benefit. Matt always showed emotion when it came to Jackson. The other grandchildren didn't get so much as one tear.

It's not that surprising that Matt favors Jackson. Zach and Tori Roloff are the only ones who have kept their children close to the farm, where they can hang out with Matt. Little People, Big World fans are concerned that Zach and Matt's tense dynamic may cause Jackson to miss out on time with his grandfather, but most don't think that Matt would allow that to happen. For now, Jackson will remain the favorite grandchild, even if he moved an hour down the road to Battleground, WA.
