The unconventional love stories from 90 Day Fiancé make for great TV, but some fans have called out certain relationships on the show for having double standards. With nine seasons and countless spin-offs in the franchise, some couples are better matches than others. Over the years, many cast members have been accused of using their partners, and fans are accusing some of the show's stars of hypocrisy.

Each 90 Day Fiancé season follows different sets of Americans who have fallen in love with people outside of the U.S. Some couples have never met in person, others are obvious mismatches, and some have gone on to have successful relationships after their seasons. 90 Day Fiancé season 9 is no different, as fans are skeptical about Yvette Arellano and Mohamed Abdelhamed's large age gap relationship, and supportive of Kara Bass and Guillermo Rojer's more genuine connection. Fans will have to wait and see which of the six couples this season will be able to say "I do" at the end of their 90 days.

While some fans of the show think that the foreign partners are using the Americans for money or a K-1 visa, others believe there is an unfair double standard. Reddit user u/MissTeeny27 said the show has "men flaunting their wealth and success, but at the same time having absolute resentment for women who are 'gold diggers.'" This is a common theme on 90 Day Fiancé, as there are many men who go on the show and brag about what they have to international women, and then appear angry when the women are attracted to that.

Mike Berk Big Ed Brown 90 Day Fiancé

One recent example of this is from 90 Day Fiancé season 9, as Bilal Haziezz and Shaeeda Sween's rough start on the show proved. Many fans were angry at Bilal for tricking Shaeeda as soon as she got to the U.S., by picking her up in a beat-up white van and taking her to his childhood home, rather than his actual house. Bilal's ex-wife said that he showed off his status by posing in luxury houses and wearing expensive suits on social media. He went to extreme lengths to find out whether Shaeeda was interested in his money. Shaeeda does appear to truly love Bilal, but it is understandable that she would want to be with someone financially secure so she could have a better life in the U.S.

There have been other men who have followed this pattern in 90 Day Fiancé. They seemed to use their money to get women, and then got angry when they realized that they women were only interested in their money. "Big" Ed Brown is an example from Before the 90 Days season 4. He admitted to sending Filipina Rosemarie Vega thousands of dollars while they were dating, but did not like buying things for her in person when she asked. Mike Berk, also a B90 alum, seemed to buy Ximena Morales' love, as he agreed to pay for housing, and then used it against her by saying that he would not leave her house during an argument. In this case, while many 90 Day Fiancé fans see that some of the women were using the men for money, the men were also using the women, hence the double standard of the show.
