Fans of Love Is Blind are gushing about the show’s newest season, which features contestants that they can relate to. Since its premiere on Netflix in 2020, the series has been a staple for the streaming service. The show is a social experiment that tries to answer the question, “Can love truly be blind?" Singles are brought together to connect in pods, where they speak through walls, and form emotional bonds. These singles get engaged in their pods, and are then brought together, so they can meet face-to-face for the first time. The series' stars spend several weeks together, trying to fit into one another’s lives. Ultimately, they have to decide whether to marry their partners, or go their separate ways.

Love Is Blind fans were excited to meet season 3’s cast, as in viewers' eyes, they portray a more varied and realistic array of people. Some current reality dating shows find their casts via other reality TV shows. The Bachelor and The Bachelorette have problematic casting, and do pull most of their contestants from their own franchise. Other dating shows use traditional casting methods, but find contestants that idealize unrealistic beauty standards. More often than not, shows are chock-full of Instagram models and fitness buffs. Fans think that those sorts of people do exist in the real world, but aren't exactly the most “common” type of people.

For several reasons, fans have been excited to see several of the Love Is Blind season 3 cast members on their screens. Alexa Alfia, who is engaged to Brennon Lemieux on the show, is a full-figured woman of Israeli descent, who openly talks about her body type and religion onscreen. Fans felt that they could see themselves in Alexa, who was insecure about what her new fiance might think of her body type. Alexa and Brennon, who have a high chance of staying together on Love Is Blind, are a testament to the experiment bringing real people into each other’s lives.

Love Is Blind Season 3 Feels Very Authentic

Other contestants, Zanab Jaffrey and SK Alagbada, were concerned about their family backgrounds. Zanab, who has experienced some tragic loss in her past, finds it hard to be vulnerable in relationships. SK, whose family is from Nigeria, still practices Nigerian cultural norms within the US, regardless of the backlash. Both felt hesitant to bring up their backgrounds to their partners, and each cast member was accepted and celebrated for being honest. Fans were thrilled to see that authenticity during season 3. Another contestant on Love Is Blind season 3, Nancy Rodriguez, whose engagement to Bartise Bowden might already be ruined, talked openly about her insecurities. She worried that she was not as attractive or intelligent as some other contestants. Viewers have thoroughly enjoyed Nancy’s honesty, and they've found themselves commenting on her Instagram posts, saying that she's gorgeous and smart.

While some Love Is Blind stars are more traditionally attractive, all the cast members are appealing in their own ways. It is clear that fans enjoy seeing themselves represented onscreen, and like watching a show that values emotional connection over physical looks. They also appreciate the fact that producers are trying to represent different types of people. This is why viewers want more Love Is Blind in the future. While some stars of the show have been called Love Is Blind red flags, fans do see people that they relate to, and sometimes watch them fall in love onscreen. The level of camaraderie that the fans feel with the cast will carry the show through this season and, hopefully, many more.
