One of the biggest franchises in Hollywood right now is Fast & Furious. The series is closing in on the release of an eighth film since 2001. However, The Fate of the Furious looks to flip the script, putting the man who preaches the importance of family at odds with those he calls his own. Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) is poised to betray his loved ones, but there has been no reasoning behind why this move was made so far.

The strange storyline has produced some equally odd theories as to why Dom would make this turn. Most believe some sort of blackmail is the causes, but a new fan theory has popped up that doesn't just explain what Dom is doing in the next film, but also his behavior throughout the entire film. According to the theory, Toretto is secretly a Terminator.

YouTuber Jim and Them goes on to explain just how Dom is similar to a the unstoppable killing machines. Not only does the theory lay out some interesting evidence, but he also gets ahead of the backlash by trying to explain some counterpoints that could be made.

Dominic Toretto is a Terminator

As the video explains, thanks to his super strength, inability to feel pain, a similar fighting style, lack of planning, and ability to avoid death all coincide with tendencies and characteristics that can be found in a Terminator. Some of these could be merely coincidence or explained by Dom having a strong enough will to do whatever it takes, but the strength and his lack of pain goes beyond what any normal person could withstand.

This is just an outlandish fan theory made for fun, and due to the rights issues touched upon in the video make it seem unlikely that a reveal that Dominic Toretto is actually a Terminator. Still, the theory is unique and it would make for a shocking twist. For a franchise that has gone to the extreme the longer it goes on, it is certainly not out of the realm of possibility, or really believability.

As fun as this theory may be, James Cameron is planning to reboot the Terminator franchise after he gets the rights back in 2019. It would be quite surprising to see Fast & Furious make this connection, only to see it be ignored down the road. Plus, even though these movies exist within the real world, they have built a reputation of doing the impossible. Turning the franchise star into a Terminator would obliterate the franchise's already tenuous relationship with reality.
