The Pokémon series has well over 800 Pokémon in its roster, and that number continues to rise with each added entry. However, despite the growing number of adorable creatures, Game Freak still manages to come up with unique designs for each pocket monster. What’s even more impressive is how players have also been able to come up with their own fan-made Pokémon that rival the real designs created by Game Freak.

Pokémon fan art can be found all over the internet, but those specifically seeking fan-made Pokémon designs need look no further than the Fakémon community. There are hundreds of fan-made Pokémon that members of the community draw themselves and post on Reddit and other platforms for feedback. In addition to their designs, many artists also add Pokedex entries or other fun facts about their Fakémon.

Fan-Made Pokémon: Alternate Charizard Form

This form of Charizard was created by Reddit user Ziggymcfly, and it’s pretty creepy. Ziggymcfly wrote this potential Charizard evolution would only be obtainable if the player focuses on improving Charmander’s Smokescreen instead of its other attacks, eventually turning it into a Fire- and Poison-type Pokémon.

Fan-Made Pokémon: Rock-Type Igneode & Jettistone

This pair of Pokémon was hand-drawn by Reddit user Reechan, and they look like they pack quite a punch. Igneode, a pure Rock type, is the pre-evolution of Jettistone, a Rock- and Flying-type Fakémon. According to the artist, Jettistone would mainly attack other Pokémon by dropping boulders on top of them. Ouch.

Fan-Made Pokémon: Ice-Type Lufla & Royace

Move over Cryogonal, there’s a new snowflake Pokémon in town. Drawn by DeviantArt's Kipine, these Fakémon are known as Lufla and Royace. The artist wrote that Lufla, the Fakémon to the left, is a playful Ice-type Pokémon whose forehead jewel is the source of its powers. Upon evolving into Royace, the Pokémon would gain a secondary Fairy typing and is capable of freezing large forests. Perhaps these two could help give Ice-type Pokémon the power boost they desperately need.

Fan-Made Pokémon: Kuzumi & Denchu Pikachu Clones

These Pikachu clones were designed by Instagram's RoutineMilk. According to their description, Kuzumi, the Fakémon on the top row, and its evolution, Denchu, would be Electric- and Grass-type Pokémon that spend their time collecting berries, nuts, and other treasures. Denchus would also be known for herding Pokémon by giving them tiny shocks to keep them in place.

Fan-Made Pokémon: Drakeon Eeveelution

This list wouldn’t be complete without an Eeveelution. Created by Reddit user parxy_art, this Dragon-type evolution of Eevee would come with a new Ability called Crystal Trinity, which the artist said would empower Fire, Electric, and Ice moves.

Fan-Made Pokémon: Water-Type Starter

Not much is known about these Water- and Poison-type starter Fakémon, created by Reddit user MiguelonAlfa. They don’t have names, but the artist said the designs were inspired by chameleons. Additionally, MiguelonAlfa included a shiny version of the Fakémon, which goes for a dark-green palette instead of its original light-blue design.

These fan-made Pokémon designs could definitely hold their own next to the current lineup of Pokémon. While the designs are definitely standouts, there are many artists in and outside of the Fakémon subreddit that fans of the Pokémon series should keep an eye on.
