If you’re a Hollywood celebrity, one of the many, many perks of being rich and famous is that there are dedicated teams of people whose sole job it is to make you look good. It’s not just directors and cinematographers ensuring you have the most flattering lighting possible on camera, but it’s the entire army of makeup people and costume designers behind the scenes that work together to make everything look as great as they can. That’s not to mention the personal trainers and dietitians that are employed to ensure the cast for your superhero blockbuster are buff enough to sell toys.
The point of all this is that with all of this cosmetic might, even regular Joes like (possibly) you and (definitely) us could be billboard-worthy. However, with some actors, little of that help is required. They’re just naturally good looking, and makeup and costume only enhances what’s already there. As we’ll see from the following list, sometimes it’s just a case of good genes, and handsome just so happens to run in the family. Sometimes, the less famous of the siblings may even be more deserving of all the photography and attention. Here (in no particular order) are the 15 Actors Whose Unknown Siblings Are Even Better Looking.
15. Alex Watson
Emma Watson is probably one of the most famous young actresses at the moment. After finding fame with the Harry Potter films, Emma most recently starred in Disney’s hugely successful live-action Beauty and the Beast. Besides acting, Emma became an activist and was appointed as a Women’s Goodwill Ambassador by the UN.
So when we say that her brother Alex is a relative unknown, we mean that in all senses of the word. Alex and his sister look pretty alike, so considering all the attention Emma gets, we feel Alex should get some praise too. After cameoing in two Harry Potter films and co-fronting a Burberry campaign with his sister, it seems Alex has the same strong educational focus as Emma, stepping away from the cameras to focus on studying politics and philosophy at university. Having said that, we’d be surprised if he didn’t pop up on the public radar again in the near future, even if it’s just a cheeky photo-op at a red carpet premiere.
14. Poppy Delevigne
Unless you follow fashion to some degree, you probably won’t have heard of Poppy Delevigne. Daughter of successful property developer Charles Delevigne, Poppy and her two sisters had a privileged start in life, growing up in a mansion and attending private school. Poppy was spotted in 2008 and began a big career in modeling, working with some of the industry’s biggest names. So pretty famous then. Yeah, we guess. But that fame is eclipsed by her younger sister Cara, making her an unknown by comparison.
For the few that don’t know who Cara is, she’s not only a world class supermodel, but she’s acted in things like Paper Towns, Pan, and Suicide Squad, as well as appearing opposite Dane DeHaan in Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. She was also described by Vogue as “one of the most beautiful and sought-after faces in the fashion world”. However, that’s not to discredit Poppy, who arguably has the same runway good looks as her sister. Some families have all the luck.
13. Oliver Hudson
Of all the people on this list, Oliver Hudson is probably the face you’ll have most likely seen before. However, he comes from a super-famous family. Not only is his sister Kate Hudson, famed actress seen in movies like Almost Famous and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, but he was raised by his mother, Goldie Hawn and her partner Kurt Russell.
While his name doesn’t have nearly the clout of his parents or sister, Oliver had a prominent role in the sitcom Rules of Engagement, playing naïve neighbor Adam Rhodes, as well as a run on ABC’s Nashville. He’s slated to appear in the upcoming TV series Splitting Up Together, a sitcom which tells the story of a couple whose divorce somehow reignites their passion for each other, with Hudson playing the husband, Martin. Depending on the show’s success, this could be the last time Oliver can appear on a list such as this.
12. Gemma Styles
As we’re sure many of you are painfully aware, Harry Styles was a member of the insanely popular boy band One Direction, before he embarked on a successful solo career. Not only that, but his acting debut in Christopher Nolan’s war epic Dunkirk earned him a decent amount of critical praise, meaning that his possible transition to acting has been given a serious boost.
Posters of Harry may dominate the wallspace in thousands of teenage bedrooms, but his older sister Gemma is definitely no slouch in the looks department herself, often posting a mixture of glamorous studio shoots or quick selfies on social media. Gemma seems to possess the brains to match her good looks too, graduating with a First Class Honors Degree and achieving Qualified Teacher Status in Genetics. Since then, Gemma’s worked as a freelance journalist, a contributing writer for the UK site The Debrief, and accrued massive followings on both Twitter and Instagram.
11. Eric Lively
There’s no two ways about it, acting is the Lively family business. Most of you will be familiar with Blake Lively. Mrs. Ryan Reynolds rose to fame in Gossip Girl and can be seen in movies like The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants, the underrated heist flick The Town, and the aquatic horror outing The Shallows. Blake may have the name recognition, but her brother, two half-sisters, and her half brother are all actors themselves, albeit with way fewer high profile roles.
Eric Lively has been acting since he was literally a baby, with his first role in the 1983 sci-fi movie Brainstorm. Since then, he’s appeared in The Butterfly Effect 2 and had a recurring role in the Showtime series The L Word. The fact that half of you probably didn’t know that there was a Butterfly Effect 2 until a sentence ago gives you a clue as to why we’re saying he’s a bit of an unknown. He has a healthy following on Instagram, however, with a not-too-shabby 66 thousand followers.
10. Ali Lohan
There was a time when it seemed that Lindsay Lohan was going to be the next ex-child star to conquer the world. After the three hit combo of Freaky Friday, Mean Girls, and Herbie: Fully Loaded and launching a pop career that saw hit her first album hit platinum, Lindsay became a teen idol, with magazines and websites furiously updating their readers on her every move. As is often the case, all the press attention turned negative when she started to hit headlines for her hard partying lifestyle, which pretty much stopped her rise in its tracks.
Ali Lohan has modeled since she was three, but lacks the name recognition of her sister. To be fair, it’s not through lack of trying. The reality series Living Lohan focused on her attempts to break into the entertainment industry, but as the show was critically reviled and cancelled abruptly, nothing ever really came of it. Ali has also pursued a singing career, but her Christmas album, “Lohan Christmas” has, as of yet, failed to find a market. She’s currently preparing a new album under her full name of Aliana Lohan.
9. Hunter Johansson
You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn’t heard of Scarlett Johansson, especially considering she’s officially the highest grossing actress of all time in North America, with her movies racking up an eye-watering total of $3.6 billion at the box office. Scarlett is often used as shorthand for new Hollywood glamor and is a bonafide sex symbol, also fronting cosmetic commercials banking on her beauty and style.
What you may not know about the Black Widow actress is that she has a twin brother named Hunter. Hunter’s a handsome dude, no arguments there, but he’s chosen to live a much quieter life than his sister, and who could blame him? Hunter has been involved in several political and humanitarian causes, often backed by Scarlett, and has occasionally been seen at the premieres of his sister’s movies. As his IMDb page only has the one acting credit (the 1996 movie Manny & Lo, fact fans!), it seems unlikely he’s going to be sharing a billing with Mrs. Box Office any time soon.
8. Dylan Efron
Starting out with a few television roles before hitting it big in the High School Musical movies, Zac Efron soon became the House of Mouse’s clean-cut golden boy. As he grew older, Efron moved away from Disney and started pursuing more diverse roles as well as hitting the gym hard. He’s seemingly found his niche recently with comedic appearances in the Neighbors movies and the R-rated Baywatch.
Unless social media is your life, you probably don’t know about his younger brother Dylan. Turns out that Dylan has the same fine features as his brother, right down to the chiseled abs. Dylan’s mostly stayed out of the public eye, but has been involved behind the scenes, serving as an assistant to the executive producer on Will Ferrell comedy Get Hard. Hilariously, Zac shared a poem his brother had written in the sixth grade, with the spectacular opening stanza of: “My brother is a movie star/And is only sixteen/He doesn’t have a job yet/Still, he thinks he is the queen”
7. Lizzy Pattinson
While R-Patz mania has quietened down now, it’s all too easy to forget just how big a deal Robert Pattinson became to legions of screaming (mostly) teenage fans. After appearing as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Pattinson found himself the object of desire for Twilight fans worldwide as the movies became box-office gold and his role as the dreamy vampire Edward Cullen propelled him to the top of a rabid fandom.
It turns out that Robert has two lovely sisters named Lizzy and Victoria. While not much is known about eldest sibling Victoria, Lizzy seems to be trying to make her way into showbusiness too, albeit focused on the musical side of things. She provided background vocals for two of the Twilight movies’ soundtracks and also participated in the UK version of The X Factor, almost making the top five of her group before being eliminated by the judges.
6. Monica Cruz
Penélope Cruz should need no introduction. She’s appeared in a ton of Spanish and English language movies and became the first Spanish actress to not only win an Academy Award (for her role in Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona) but also to earn a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Oh – she’s also beautiful to an unfair degree and has fronted numerous campaigns for massive fashion and cosmetic companies.
Monica Cruz looks very alike to her sister, almost scarily so. While her sister was off blazing trails, Monica initially wanted to be a dancer, training in flamenco for seven years before choosing to be an actress. She played the lead in Spanish TV drama Un Paso Adelante, which ended up being a big hit and ran for six seasons. Their resemblance is so strong that director Rob Marshall used her as a stand-in for her pregnant sister in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
5. Stella Hudgens
It’s time to talk about the other big breakout star of the High School Musical movies, Vanessa Hudgens. As well as playing Gabriella Montez in the Disney trilogy, she also launched a singing career, with her first album going gold in 2006. Since then, Vanessa refocused on acting and tried to shake off her wholesome Disney image with sexier and more mature roles in films like Sucker Punch, Spring Breakers, and Machete Kills.
Vanessa’s younger sister Stella is arguably just as attractive as her more famous sibling, if not more so. Stella has modeled (a running theme in this list) and has a ton of social media presence, with a cool 1.2 million followers signed up for every selfie she has to offer. Stella has also dabbled with acting, starring in low budget movies The Memory Thief and 16 and Missing. She was most recently seen in a quick cameo in the series finale of her sister’s NBC series, Powerless.
4. Rosanna Hoult
Nicholas Hoult has had a long career for a 27 year old. He made his debut at the ripe old age of seven in the 1996 movie Intimate Relations and has been working ever since. He became somewhat of a teen idol in the United Kingdom for his role in the youth Brit drama Skins, and even managed to attract the eye of Jennifer Lawrence while filming X-Men: First Class. He played the role of Dr. Hank McCoy aka Beast for three X-movies, as well as starred alongside action badasses Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road.
Nicholas’ older sister Rosanna Hoult made her movie debut much later than her brother in the British film Adulthood. Weirdly enough, she’s also acted in a Marvel movie, with a fleeting appearance as “The Star-Spangled Singer” in Captain America: The First Avenger. Her most high profile role to date is playing David (Colin Farrell)’s wife in the well-reviewed comedy drama The Lobster.
3. Sandra Vergara
Most of us know Columbian beauty and actress Sofia Vergara from her various movie appearances or as Gloria Pritchett on the ABC sitcom Modern Family. As of late last year, Vergara is the highest paid actress in television, earning an estimated $43 million annually.
Less high profile is Sofia’s cousin and adopted sister Sandra, who has several film and TV credits to her name. Sandra had a recurring role as a character confusingly named “Sofia” in the Peruvian soap Chico de mi Barrio, and she’s also starred in the American soap The Bold and the Beautiful. On top of that, she also co-hosted a plastic surgery themed talk show called Good Work, where she shared the stage with TV personalities Terry Dubrow and RuPaul. As we’re sure you can guess, the show wasn’t around long, and was cancelled after six episodes. Sandra hasn’t made any television or movie appearances in the past few years in order to focus on motherhood, but she continues to act sporadically, most recently treading the boards and doing some theater work in Peru.
2. Daniel McAdams
After the one-two punch of Mean Girls and The Notebook, Rachel McAdams was set for big things, and she’s worked very consistently since then, appearing in both Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes movies, Midnight in Paris, and Doctor Strange, as well as the critically acclaimed TV series True Detective. Perhaps her biggest moment of recognition since breaking out was being nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars for her brilliant turn as journalist Sacha Pfeiffer in Spotlight.
When Rachel appeared next to her hunky brother Dan at the Toronto International Film Festival, several gossip sites went into meltdown to find out more information on the unknown member of the McAdams clan. It turns out that he’s a personal trainer with his own company, McAdams Fitness. According to the company website, Dan has also studied Shorin-ryu Karate for twelve years, so it’s probably not the best idea to approach him and ask how his sister’s doing or if he has any insider info on a Doctor Strange sequel.
1. Scott Evans
As we’re on Screen Rant, we’re going to assume the vast majority of you just might be familiar with the lantern-jawed Chris Evans, now known to an entire generation as Captain America. Evans’ classic handsome appearance coupled with his ridiculous physique has made him the perfect patriotic hero to lead the Avengers into battle. MCU aside, Evans has been in a huge number of projects, ranging from voicing Casey Jones in the 2007 CGI TMNT movie to playing the scene-stealing Hollywood douche Lucas Lee in Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
Scott Evans has his brother’s good looks and his love of acting, but hasn’t quite had the same opportunities. Anything’s going to seem low key compared to of being one of the faces of the most successful movie franchise of all time, but Scott has kept working consistently. He’s probably best known for his two-year stint on the long-running soap One Life to Live. Most recently, he appeared in four episodes of VH1’s Daytime Divas as a celebrity lifestyle coach who helps Chloe Bridges’ character Kibby keep away from the booze.
Do you know of any other Hollywood stars whose siblings may be even better looking than they are? Let us know in the comments.
