Family Guy's Peter Griffin Should Be In Prison: Here Are All His Crimes

Peter Griffin from Family Guy should be in prison by now based on his behavior. The Seth MacFarlane-created animated comedy first debuted on Fox in 1999, but the show didn't achieve the popularity it now has until after it was cancelled and revived. Since the return of the series in 2005, Family Guy has become one of the biggest animated shows around, and audiences have grown quite attached to its characters.

Over 20 years of Family Guy, it is no surprise that the Griffin family has experienced some genuinely absurd moments. Through it all, Peter, Lois, Chris, Meg, and Stewie have remained at the center of the story, but it is Peter who is the unquestioned lead of the series. The lazy, offensive, and selfish father/husband has almost no limit to what he will not do, whether for his gain or just for a good laugh. And when you look back at everything he has done, there are plenty of reasons why Peter should be behind bars.

As discussed in Screen Rant's latest video, Peter has done some horrible things during Family Guy's run, and, unbelievably, he has not yet been arrested for his multiple crimes. He once revealed to Meg that the way he earns his living for the family is by robbing banks, and if that wasn't dumb enough, Family Guy shows him doing so without any masks or ways to hide his identity. Worse, he takes along Meg, who kills a hostage on accident. This incident all on its own should be enough to put him in jail for years, but this may not even be the worst offense of his life. See the video at the top of this post for even more.

Peter Griffin Family Guy Jail

One of the most recurring troubling acts that Peter does is physical violence or abuse. He once beat up a kid at Chris' school and even killed another one he believed to be a bully (but murdered the wrong kid instead). Peter also appeared to kill a young child to take a jet ski for a short ride and crushed two children to death by falling through the roof of their home as he tried to be Mary Poppins. As bad as this all is, not even his family is protected from his violent tendencies. He has shot Meg, thrown Stewie under the tire of Lois' car, and kidnapped his twin brother. In each of these instances, Peter didn't receive any legal punishment.

One of the only instances where he did go to jail was when he bombed a children's hospital. The bombing set three stories of the building on fire and resulted in multiple deaths. However, Peter received a mere 7-day sentence in prison instead. The arson and property damage charges alone should've locked him up for longer than a week, but killing multiple people should've put him away for years. Believe it or not, this isn't Peter's only firey activity. He was responsible for burning someone's house down, but he also got away with that.

Given the world that Family Guy created, Peter isn't the only character who resorts to violence or destruction, but, incredibly, a few days in prison is all he's served with a rap sheet like this.
