Winter Everett is the latest family member to have her relationship in the hot seat on The Family Chantel. The younger sister of series star Chantel Jimeno, née Everett, has been dating her boyfriend Jah for over six years despite the fact that Chantel uncovered Jah concealed a son from Winter for the entirety of their relationship, despite the fact that Winter raising Jah's daughter. Now, The Family Chantel viewers are confused about the Nazarene faith Jah has convinced Winter to follow.

Chantel and her mother Karen Everett absolutely can't stand Jah after they uncovered his deception. This made things particularly tense when Winter brought Jah along on a family trip to South Carolina on last week's new episode of The Family Chantel season 3. A family dinner turned tense when Chantel told the waiter Winter now ate kosher food and Jah interjected their religious food restrictions were not kosher, though food such as pork and shellfish are banned. Chantel told the cameras she was concerned Winter was following a faith she didn't understand since her younger sister told her she ate kosher. Jah also threw a dig at Chantel and Karen when he said people who ate "bottom feeders" such as shrimp started to think like them. Jah and Winter follow a "biblical" diet for their Nazarene faith.

What exactly is the Nazarene faith that Jah and Winter follow? According to Christianity.com, The Church of the Nazarene has a mission to “go and make disciples of all nations.” The church has its own manual published within the last decade. The name “Nazarene” comes from the biblical reference to “Nazareth,” which explains why Jah said he and Winter follow a “biblical” diet and were not kosher. The Nazarene church also prohibits alcohol and cigarette consumption. Meanwhile, Reddit user u/__vices questioned the religion that Jah has Winter following since Winter did not appear to understand the faith at all. However, Winter did make it clear to her family that she no longer celebrates Christmas.

Though Jah stated he and Winter follow a Nazarene faith, some Reddit users likened his apparent beliefs to both Rastafarians and Black Israelites. "Both groups, just like orthodox Jews, follow old testament dietary restrictions. ... Both groups believe they're descended from the lost tribe of Judah. Rastafarians call God 'Jah', which is a shortened form of 'Jehovah,'" one commenter explained. Many commenters had different ideas about Jah's religion and recalled him saying different things about his faith in the past. Some fans were confused about him being called "Jah" and wearing a "Jah" hat if he used that word to describe god. Other viewers thought Jah seemed confused by what beliefs he follows. "He said he is Nazarene. But I’m not sure everything he’s saying about it matches with what I’ve read about it," another commenter wrote.

Many The Family Chantel viewers get bad vibes from Jah. Winter was a teenager when she entered into her relationship with him, and many viewers think she might be blinded to his controlling ways. Winter forgave Jah for hiding his son from her and blamed Karen and Chantel for digging into his past. She also doesn't question the faith he has her following even though it is clear she doesn't understand all of the beliefs and practices. Meanwhile, Chantel and Karen are unhappy with Winter's newfound religion, as she now refuses to wear Christmas sweaters.
