Discussions between Microsoft and Bethesda surrounding Fallout: New Vegas 2 are reportedly happening, and if the sequel is to be made, it should continue from one of the first game's worst endings. Fallout New Vegas 2 is reportedly being considered by Microsoft, reportedly with the developer of the original New Vegas, Obsidian, in mind. New Vegas had a bunch of wild endings with some being good, others bad, and a few being a little bit of both. Several of the endings the sequel game could continue from are the independent Yes Man ending and even one of the worst endings of the game, which involved the deaths of quite literally every faction in New Vegas.

Fallout: New Vegas is a critically-acclaimed spin-off RPG of the Fallout series set in a post-apocalyptic version of Nevada. Featuring a wide variety of factions, characters, and a complex, roleplaying narrative, New Vegas is considered by many as one of the best Fallout games of all time. After Microsoft's recent acquisition of Obsidian and Bethesda, the probability of a New Vegas sequel has increased, which could make this game - if it does enter development - one of the most highly anticipated RPGs of all time.

The endings of Fallout: New Vegas vary depending on which faction the player decides to side with. From the democratic republic of the NCR to the tyrannical Caesar's Legion to even working independently, the Courier has the power to decide the fate of the Mojave wasteland any way they want. One ending is the independent Yes Man ending, in which the Courier uses the platinum chip for their own motives to become the new head of the Mojave Wasteland and New Vegas itself. Considering how Fallout: New Vegas 2 would share a city with the original game and likely continue the story of the Mojave's wild and wondrous wasteland, it would make sense for a fairly chaotic ending like that would be the canonical choice to continue from.

Fallout: New Vegas 2 Should Treat The Yes Man Ending As Canon

Fallout New Vegas 2s Main Villain Is Yes Man Theory Robot

There is one ending in Fallout: New Vegas that seems like it would be the best for a sequel game to stem from, and that is the independent ending. The independent ending involves the Courier using the platinum chip for themselves, and sees them defeat both Caesar's Legion and the NCR with the help of the trusty securitron and his legion of robots, Yes Man. New Vegas is deemed its own independent city-state in the wasteland, continuing the cycle of chaos that afflicts the Mojave.

An ending like this would certainly be a great point to continue the story of Fallout: New Vegas. It keeps the chaotic state the Mojave wasteland is in that many fans know and love while also progressing the story of Fallout somewhat. The Courier becomes another ruler of the wastes and could even be brought back as a returning character in the sequel game. The NCR is not totally wiped out in this ending as well, so the fan-favorite faction can be brought back once more in New Vegas 2.

Fallout: New Vegas was a story full of wild, unexpected endings set in a brutal and fierce Mojave wasteland. While some endings cause the Courier to either destroy everything in their sight or build the Mojave up, the independent ending makes the most sense to continue the story from in a sequel. This ending has the perfect balance of chaos while also progressing the story and not killing off most of the characters and factions. It sets them up for a return and could make Fallout: New Vegas 2 the sequel that fans have been dreaming to see for years.
