Fallout Worlds, the Fallout 76 update that will bring server hosting features and more to Appalachia, is now live on all platforms. Following Bethesda Game Studio's numerous updates to improve Fallout 76, this new feature will introduce Public Worlds for all players, and Custom Worlds for Fallout 1st members, who will be able to set up their own custom servers with a variety of modifiers. Bethesda will be watching how players implement these new features to improve their experience and could use it as a foundation for future updates.

Fallout 76, the online action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks, saw a rocky launch in 2018 which sparked numerous controversies from a disappointed playerbase. In a sizable effort to resuscitate the title, however, Bethesda introduced many minor patches to Fallout 76, followed by bigger updates to draw players and grow the community. Shortly after adding the long-awaited NPC update in Wastelanders, Bethesda introduced the Brotherhood of Steel storyline. This ongoing story recently saw its ultimatum in the Steel Reign DLC, which was praised for its deep narrative and made for a promising teaser of the potential future of Appalachia.

As shared in a press release and launch trailer from Bethesda Softworks, Fallout Worlds is a brand new feature for Fallout 76 that introduces new server options to all players and Fallout 1st members, starting with Public Worlds. These new unique worlds will have a monthly rotation cycle and can only be joined one at a time. Handcrafted by Bethesda, they will include restrictions on features like reduced C.A.M.P. placement or disabled PvP. In addition to Public worlds, players with an active Fallout 1st membership will be able to create their own Custom Worlds in Fallout 76 with a variety of modifiers and settings to pick from. This will include infinite ammo, unrestricted C.A.M.P. building, weather effects, and adjustable height and fall damage. Character progression is also specific to each Public or Custom World and completely separate from Adventure Mode. Players who want to play in these worlds can "clone" their characters and use them for separate progression as long as the world is available.

The new Fallout Worlds update also terminates Fallout 76's Nuclear Winter game mode which introduced Battle Royale to the series. Nuclear Winter was slated to be discontinued due to low player counts and Bethesda's inability to provide new updates. Players who have previously played the game mode, however, will be receiving a Nuclear Winter pennant as well as some perk coins that commemorate the progress they’ve made in the ill-fated Nuclear Winer game mode. Going forth, cosmetics and perk rewards that could be earned in Fallout 76's Nuclear Winter will now be available as rewards for completing public events in Adventure mode.

Planned to go live today, Fallout Worlds will be available after a scheduled Fallout 76 maintenance, which is expected to be around two hours. Interested players can pre-download its 16 GB patch beforehand, and make ready for a new playground of options in Fallout 76's largest update.
