The biggest update in Fallout 76's history landed today on consoles and PC, and it also brings with it a massive amount of bug and glitch fixes to the game. Fallout 76 had a notoriously bad launch and an even worse time afterwards, with all kinds of controversies ranging from the publisher delivering low-quality, cheap knock-offs of promised pre-order bonuses to introducing an incredibly expensive glitch-ridden Fallout 1st membership package.

However, developer Bethesda is hoping to turn all of that around with their new Fallout 76 update, Wastelanders. Wastelanders reintroduces non-playable human characters to the apocalyptic game world and also brings back classic Fallout dialog options players had been missing from the previous games in the franchise, in addition to offering a plethora of new in-game items and quests.

According to the Wastelanders patch notes available on the official Fallout 76 website, the update is also adding an absolutely massive amount of bug fixes to the game. The message states many of the "close to 1,000" bugs "were reported to us by the Fallout 76 community" and includes changes to auto-scrapping, V.A.T.S., a plethora of weapons, perks, quests, and much, much more. Not even Bethesda included the full list of changes made to the game, but did provide some highlights of the more important fixes which have been implemented.

Other changes to Fallout 76 include fixing the compass so it more accurately represents where objects are located in the world, adjusting the fanfare and rewards list so it appears on screen properly and at the right time, and the inclusion of the ability to revive downed players with Diluted and Super Stimpacks. Thankfully, small annoyances which Fallout 76 players have grown accustomed to, such as an automatic weapon not firing once a player enters V.A.T.S. and exiting a workbench only to immediately enter it again, have also reportedly been eliminated.

While it's nice to hear so many changes and fixes have been applied to Fallout 76 in addition to all of the content already included in the Wastelanders update, it does beg the question of why, so far into the game's lifespan, did Fallout 76 have so many problems which needed fixing to begin with? Bringing close to one thousand fixes to Fallout 76, while likely necessary, is an admission by Bethesda that Fallout 76 still included nearly a thousand problems. While it's too soon to tell what sort of new issues may arise in Fallout 76 with this new Wastelanders update, hopefully it won't create a thousand more problems for Bethesda to fix. Some players are still hoping for some Elder Scrolls 6 news at some point in the future, after all.
