In the latest Inside the Vault, Fallout 76 devs gave an in-depth overview of the new Season 5 content players can expect and included the latest Community Calendar so players know what's coming in the game through September 2021. Season 5 arrives on July 7 with the Steel Reign update, which is a free update for players that concludes the Brotherhood of Steel storyline in Fallout 76. The Community Calendar shows players all weekend events through the summer, which gives the community an opportunity to prepare new in-game community events around the events over the summer.

Although Fallout 76 had a rough start at its release, from preorder issues and server problems to the game just not delivering what Todd Howard of Bethesda initially promised as a multiplayer always-online Fallout game, Fallout 76 has come a long way. Initially announced at E3 in the summer of 2018, and released that Fall, the showcase showed numerous in-game aspects that appealed to fans, like the C.A.M.P. workshops and the premise of being a member of the first vault to open and one of the first wasteland explorers, but certain aspects affected the overall enjoyment. However, once Fallout 76 received the Wastelanders update early last year, the game became a better experience and attracted more players. Prior to the Steel Reign and Season 5 updates, Fallout 76 added Steel Dawn to the game, which was a free update for players and added a Brotherhood of Steel questline, new NPCs, new weapons, and settlements to explore.

The main attraction of the start of Season 5 is the return of K.D. Inkwell. In this adventure, she is traveling to the 42nd century after a calibration misfunction (via Bethesda). The dystopian future is inhabited by Dolphin-Human Hybrids, the MIND Organization, and has one goal: convert what remains of humanity to part of their collective. There are 100 ranks for players to climb as they progress through K.D. Inkwell's adventure. There will be rewards as players progress through rank 100, including C.A.M.P. Objects and a Red Rocket Collection,  and after with Unlimited Rank-Up rewards past 100, including Perk Card Packs and Atoms. This system for rewards past rank 100 will be included in upcoming seasons as well.

Fallout 76 Summer Community Calendar

The summer Community Calendar shows all of the themes and weekend events happening in-game from the Steel Reign update and Season 5 start July 7 to the end of September. These events include Double XP, Meat Week, and Gold Rush. There is a new event that is happening over the summer as well called Minerva's Emporium. Minerva sells a variety of Plans to players at a discount in exchange for Gold Bullion. She can be found at Crater, Foundation, or Fort Atlas.

Multiplayer games, specifically always-online multiplayer games are not for everyone, but Bethesda has and continues to work very hard to make Fallout 76 attractive to those who want a new Fallout to play but may not be interested in multiplayer. Seeing the effort that Bethesda is putting into Fallout 76 to make it a game that has what players want and what fans will enjoy while still telling a new story should make series fans confident that when Fallout 5 does come, it will be great. Season 5 is showing to be an event filled with ways to give players more content and ways to level up their character, for free, with the ability to earn in-game rewards along the way. What more could a player ask for almost three years post-launch?
