Roleplaying in Fallout 76 has reached a new impressive milestone as players have organized an Iron Chef cooking challenge in the online survival game. That’s an amazing way of enjoying the game beyond official content support, which, to be honest, has been quite impressive lately.
The most recent Fallout 76 DLC, the Locked & Loaded update, has introduced some well-appreciated quality-of-life improvements and gameplay features. It brought in an anticipated upgrade to the C.A.M.P. system, allowing players to have two such bases simultaneously instead of just one. Additionally, the update delivered the ability to have pre-made swappable S.P.E.C.I.A.L. loadouts for players’ characters, letting them prepare different presets for specific needs.
Fallout 76 fans have held a weird in-game event all by themselves, hosting a cooking challenge reminiscent of the popular Iron Chef TV show. The in-game version, called the Clawed Cooking Challenge, was organized and streamed on Twitch by the El Gato Pub (as spotted by Polygon). The event included a whole list of numerous recipes and scores that contestants would receive for cooking chosen meals successfully. But first, players needed to head on to dangerous wastelands to collect all the necessary ingredients, especially the rarest ones that would’ve resulted in higher scores. All the competitors were also given a secret ingredient to spice things up and make the whole affair a lot more intriguing. When the time has time to rate the meals and their presentation, the judges released a swarm of sarcastic and mocking commentaries to make fun of wannabe post-apocalyptic cooks.
Similar challenges are said to come in the future, so Fallout 76 players will have plenty of time to prepare for another round of roasting Deathclaw meat and getting roasted by judges. In the meantime, Bethesda is sticking to its own plan of entertaining the community by developing and releasing new content expansions for the game. This year alone, Fallout 76 is scheduled to receive three more major DLCs. They will introduce tons of goodies including brand new locations to explore, NPCs to interact with, quests to embark on, and rewards to collect.
It shouldn’t be surprising that players are finally enjoying Fallout 76 at its fullest since the game effectively got rid of its initial bad reputation with the help of continuous support from Bethesda. The recent cooking challenge organized by gamers is the best indicator that the survival title’s robust mechanics and rich features allow for hosting proper entertaining events. Such community-driven initiatives also suggest that the game is a natural source of fun for players, which is enough to redeem Fallout 76’s notoriously broken launch.
