Early next year, Bethesda will be introducing several quality-of-life improvements with a Fallout 76 dedicated patch to make the game’s inventory and menus much better. The previous big update introduced the Brotherhood of Steel to the multiplayer title.

The free Steel Dawn update brought a reasonable amount of new content to Fallout 76. The key addition was the fan-favorite Brotherhood of Steel with a new questline, although players can now also take advantage of brand new C.A.M.P. Shelters. These are basically instanced locations within player bases that can be decorated in the most unusual ways possible due to less strict rules around placing objects.

While the current focus is to launch Season 3 in Fallout 76 next week, developer Bethesda is preparing a host of anticipated improvements for inventory and menus that are among the most requested features by the community. According to Bethesda’s announcement, the game's stash limit will be increased by 50 percent to offer more space for players to store new items found in the wastelands. To further improve inventory handling, stacked items will have a dedicated description containing both individual and total weight. The Pip-Boy menu will have three additional tabs for sorting items into categories called New, Armor, and Food/Drink. The New tab will contain items gathered during a current session. Vending machine map previews are also getting an updated look showing the exact number of legendary items on sale. It is worth noting that the additions listed above are just early implementations that will release in January at an unspecified date and will be later followed by other improvements.

Fallout 76 Inventory And Menus Update

As the game continues to evolve and improve over time, Bethesda’s Todd Howard has recently admitted that initially, Fallout 76 let a lot of fans down. Upon its release, the game was a total mess infested with bugs, broken mechanics, and missing features. Speaking with The Guardian, Howard acknowledged that the game came out as a failure at first, but Bethesda managed to improve the title considerably thanks to the constant flow of content updates and crucial bug fixes.

It’s undeniably nice to see that Bethesda is not only feeding new content to Fallout 76 players but also listens to the community and introduces much-needed improvements. The upcoming quality-of-life features - especially enhanced inventory management - are definitely going to improve the overall experience. Even more promising is the fact that Bethesda is going to work in that direction further with future updates that are worth looking forward to.
