Not long after releasing a new expansion for Fallout 76 called 'Wastelanders', Bethesda has released a detailed roadmap about the newest content coming to 76, along with announcing a free to play weekend. Fallout 76 is the most recent entry into the long-time fan favorite series.

News that the next Fallout game was set to be a multi-player experience with no human NPCs back in June 2018 at E3 had fans disappointed, even moreso with the mediocre condition the game was in when it finally launched. After so much backlash at the lack of story Fallout 76 actually offered, Bethesda decided to bring human NPCs back in the newest free expansion for 76 that included brand new quest lines. These quests, concerning two factions that have migrated to West Virginia in search of a rumored buried treasure hidden somewhere in Appalachia, have helped make the game feel more like a Fallout title.

Now, hardly a month after launching the first Fallout 76 expansion, Bethesda has released a roadmap specifically detailing what the studio has planned for the rest of the year. The roadmap introduces a season-by-season look at the features coming to the game during the summer, fall, and winter. Each season will bring about new, unique attributes to the game, with the first update coming in the summer of 2020. The summer update, 'Introducing Seasons' will include features such as new high level legendary perk cards, a legendary boss event titled 'A Colossal Problem', easier ways to create public teams, a 'meat week' event, and more.

'One Wasteland for All', the new content coming to 76 in the fall, will focus on an all-new main quest line, followed by an event called 'Bombs Drop', plus a few other perks. This season will focus on scaling back the rewards and tailoring them to each unique player and their specific level, no matter how high or low level the players with them are. Last, but not least, the winter season of 76 'Fractured Steel' brings back the popular Brotherhood of Steel faction, including making certain missions repeatable, new character builds with easy customization, and 'holiday scorched' - whatever that means. Rumors of the Brotherhood of Steel returning have been around since the launch of 76, when players kept finding old decrepit Brotherhood of Steel camps and seeing Brotherhood of Steel vertibirds flying around - usually trying to take down a Scorchbeast, or other large creatures. Along with detailing what fans can expect for 76, Bethesda also announced another 'free to play' weekend. Starting May 14th through the 18th, new players can test their skills in 76 and try it out for themselves.

After the disastrous launch Fallout 76 had back in 2018 and 2019, things might be looking up for the studio behind the popular action-adventure RPG. With the better reception the Wastelanders expansion has received, its no surprise that Bethesda is continuing to improve the state of the game and bringing along with it more content for players to continue coming back to. Although the game has come a long way from the broken state it arrived in, fans are still looking forward to what the franchise has to offer in the future.
