There are many places in Fallout 4 that players can explore, but players believe some of these areas are underused - and a Reddit user decided to ask fans what the most underused locations are in Fallout 4 and why. Fallout uses real-world locations, but with a post-apocalyptic-wasteland feel.

Fallout 4 is primarily set in Massachusetts; and while the game focuses mainly on the Boston area, there are other areas further-out capable of exploration as well. Players have the ability to visit the Paul Revere Monument, the U.S. Constitution, and - of course - Fenway Park, which was repurposed in the Fallout world as Diamond City. Salem, a seaport town alongside the Massachusetts coast, is another prominent location in the game that players can explore and complete given missions.

User DaleDenton08 asked Reddit to share some of the most underused areas of the Fallout 4 map, stating that they felt as though Salem is extremely underused. A lot of posters agreed, saying there are so many opportunities for Bethesda to explore more stories with the synths in said location. One poster had an idea for use of Salem and mentioned there should be a mission to investigate the "Synth Trials" - which could be similar to the Salem Witch Trials. Another player wished Bethesda had created a Witch Faction for players to join in Fallout 4 within the Salem location.

Some of the other answers that were given were very creative and outside of the typical answer of an in-game city. For example, Gruntkore mentioned that they wished the Glowing Sea was explored more in the game. Once players get near the Glowing Sea, they become irradiated and it is nearly impossible to get close to the area. Most of the Fallout 4 map contains the Glowing Sea, which makes it frustrating for players to travel around. Players also said they wish there were less ocean on the map and more places to actually explore. Other answers included Quincy (which could have been an entire mission on its own), East City Downs, and the Combat Zone.

There are many areas in Fallout 4 that can be uncovered and explored, but that doesn't mean players don't want to learn more about the story. From a game that has so much lore, it can be surprising to players that things like the "Salem Synth Trials" were left out. With the synths assuming such a huge part of Fallout 4's story, players expected Bethesda to delve deeper into their history. Hopefully, in the next installment of Fallout, players can learn more about synth history and lore.
