Fall Guys: Ultimate Knock Out has taken PlayStation and Steam by storm. The slipping and sliding jelly beans have been the second most-watched game on Twitch and a popular choice for gaming YouTubers. There were actually so many players in the game over the weekend and throughout the week that Fall Guys gave gifts to players following a number of server issues.

In most games of the multi-stage Battle Royale, players are pitted against each other in free-for-all races or survival challenges, but in the occasional game, players are placed into evenly matched teams. The teams can be Red, Blue, Yellow, or Green.

The Red, Blue, and Green teams are evenly matched, but is Yellow really worse than all the other teams? The internet (and the Fall Guys official Twitter account) definitely seems to think so, but is there any validity to those claims?

Is Yellow The Worst in Fall Guys?

Objectively, Fall Guys' Yellow team is just as balanced as any of the other teams. The only thing separating the teams is color palette, and there is nothing that mechanically makes the Yellow team worse than the other three. In fact, in the Fall Guys game mode 'Hoarders,' there is a 1/3 chance that the Yellow team begins with 3 points while the other two teams begin with 2. This is because the placement of the final 7th ball in Hoarders is directly in the middle of the map, which counts towards a random team's point total.

Interestingly though, as more online personalities like YouTuber Alpharad tell their subscribers to target the Yellow team, the Yellow team might actually start becoming the worst in Fall Guys. Though nothing is changing about the game itself, social trends can affect the power of the different teams. If the majority of players start targeting Yellow more than Blue, Red, or Green, it could lead to an environment where the Yellow Team is legitimately worse than the other teams in Fall Guys, even if the only things in the next Fall Guys' patch is more costumes.

Mechanically it wouldn't take many players targeting Yellow to make a significant difference in the team's win rate. Each player that decides Yellow is the worst will skew the balance of the game away from Yellow, making it harder for Yellow to win, and easier for Blue or Red to take the crown. This could then make more players think Yellow is the worst team, and thus begin a vicious cycle. If the idea of Yellow being the worst spreads, it could become almost impossible to win as part of the Yellow team, unless the Yellow team starts playing dirty in Fall Guys.

The YouTuber mentioned above, Alpharad, has 2.12 million subscribers as of the writing of this article. If some of those subscribers join the bandwagon of targeting Yellow, it may not be long until playing for the Yellow team is a death sentence in Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. If Yellow ends up being as bad as most people already seem to think it is, it would still leave players at least a 66% chance of getting past team rounds... they just need to be lucky enough to avoid getting put on the Yellow team ever again.
