There are many different game modes in Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, from survival to races, but there’s one connecting thread between all of them that gives this battle royale its signature touch: the hordes of other Fall Guys bumbling about. The interference of other players can make simple platforming or objectives a challenge, and Tiptoe is a great example of that.

Tiptoe is usually played right before the finale when there are less than 20 players left. The goal is relatively simple, just reach the platform at the end. However, getting there is the tricky part. There are 100 platforms, lined up 10 by 10, between the start and finish. Once a Fall Guy steps on one, there are 2 things that might happen: it will either light up or vanish. Each time the game is played, a different path of solid platforms is determined that players must take to the finish. Only around half of the participants can make it to the end of this tense game mode, so here’s a guide that provides some tips on how to succeed in this Fall Guys memory maze.

The Fall Guys’ Tiptoe Survival Guide

Fall Guys, Tiptoe

Memory plays as much of a part in Tiptoe as platforming. Players will need to keep track of both the solid tiles and the vanishing ones. After a player steps on a solid, they’ll light up as long as a Fall Guy is stepping on it. A few seconds later, the color will fade, and the solid platform will look no different than the disappearing ones. At first, this is not an issue, but as the round goes on, the bulk of players will be closer to the end and the path before them will be obfuscated. In case one falls off at all, they’ll need to catch up with the rest of the pack. This can be very difficult if they haven’t memorized the correct path, so be sure to have an image in mind of the correct ‘combination’ of platforms. Players are given a slight chance to identify vanishing platforms if they are observant enough. Occasionally, untouched platforms will shake a little if they’re fake. Keeping track of them will help determine which platforms can and cannot be stepped on through the process of elimination. In particular, focus on the ones furthest away, close to the end goal. That way, an observant player can rush to the end without having to suffer from a shot in the dark guess or being pushed off by another player.

At the start of a Tiptoe match, players will start guessing which platforms are the solid ones. Because all players are on an equal playing field here, it’s okay to make mistakes right now. Boldly jump into the arrangement of platforms along with the other Fall Guys. If players dive after jumping, they can go a bit farther. By doing so, they can potentially find the solid platforms on the second row. Again, players should pay attention to what platforms in the back are shaking, fake, and which aren’t so they’ll know which ones to take when Tiptoe reaches its conclusion.

After the path to the end is nearly complete, there are 2 approaches players have for victory. The first is to stick with the front of the pack. While this one makes sense regarding the main goal, as reaching the end is the objective, it can also be the most dangerous. The platforms are all relatively small, so a large horde of Fall Guys will make it very crowded. So crowded, that those on the edge of the platform may be pushed off to their doom. Or, they may be pushed onto a solid platform, revealing the way. The safest method to reveal other platforms is to push and shove opponents onto them by grabbing their Fall Guys. This is what makes the frontline approach more treacherous, so the other option would be following behind from a safe distance. Slowly follow behind the front pack while they determine which platforms are correct, and then join them once the path is close to being discovered. That way, players can avoid the horde of Fall Guys at the front and avoid being used as a test dummy while still capitalizing on their progress. Falling off at the end means having to run all the way back, and an unlucky Fall Guy might not make it back in time to qualify for the next round. Safely following from a distance can help mitigate this danger, but keep track of how many Fall Guys are in the front so that there will be enough room to qualify. Or, risk being pushed off and stick near the front to guarantee a spot in the next round. Contributing to the chaos, pushing off other players, can even clear up the platforms, so there are multiple options players can take based on their own playstyle.
