While the Sonic the Hedgehog skin in Fall Guys was first revealed via a leak at the start of season 2, the official reveal for the costume is quite bizarre and slightly nightmare-inducing. SEGA and Mediatonic have teamed up to reveal the Sonic costume coming to Fall Guys in a few days, but a simple JPEG would have been less disturbing than what the two developers released.

When Fall Guys launched in August, big-name brands and other video game developers flocked to Twitter to solicit for crossover skins. Fall Guys had launched with two crossover skins readily available for PC players to unlock, and everyone else was attempting to cash in on the immense popularity surrounding Fall Guys. At the start of Fall Guys season 2, data miners were able to uncover a couple of crossover skins including Geralt from The Witcher, characters from Cyberpunk 2077, and the infamous blue hedgehog, Sonic.

Today, Mediatonic revealed the game's Sonic the Hedgehog costume in a rather interesting fashion, to say the least. Fall Guys' Community Director and SEGA's Community Manager ran a partnered stream today (graciously catalogued by the former on the Fall Guys Twitter account) with both donning very sad-looking Sonic costumes. The video announced that Mediatonic and SEGA would be racing on Twitch to see who could get the most Crowns, and it was announced on stream that Sonic the Hedgehog would be racing his way into Fall Guys on October 14th. Additionally, each of the contestants is wearing the Sonic costume in-game to show off what players can look forward to in the next couple of days.

For those who wish to live out there dreams as a jelly bean-shaped Sonic, the costume doesn't come cheap. Unlike Fall Guys' Community Director skin which cost Kudos, the Sonic skin will cost a player 10 crowns to complete the set. This is in line with the price of every other crossover skin thus far, so its expensive price tag shouldn't come as a shock.

What is shocking is the effort in which both SEGA and Mediatonic went to advertise this skin. So far, every crossover skin has been announced via a still image or a slightly more impressive GIF, but Sonic the Hedgehog was announced with a full-blown live stream and nightmare fuel cosplay. The blue spandex suits and crudely cut out mouth/eye holes raise more questions than answers, but the images from the video will no doubt go down in meme history. Let's just hope that OliverAge24 doesn't decide to continue this tradition and cosplay at Bathtime Geralt when that skin is released in Fall Guys.
