The iconic Fall Guys jelly beans can now be found in Resident Evil 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, thanks to the work of some imaginative modders. Fall Guys launched earlier this month to widespread acclaim, and despite early server issues and a rather severe hacking problem, it's become one of the most popular games in recent memory and a pop culture sensation.

Fall Guys owes much of its success to its jelly beans, the adorable, rotund player characters who can be seen bumbling around every obstacle course and memory challenge in the game. The jelly beans have been lauded for their distinct, universally likable appearance, and the wide array of funny costumes that players can dress them up in. Fans have latched on to these cute little guys in a lot of creative, and occasionally disturbing, ways. Some artists have envisioned fun new costumes for the beans to wear, while others have pictured them as frightful, musclebound behemoths. For every full Fall Guys server, there's another corner of the internet chock full of jelly bean appreciation.

Now, thanks to the dedicated some creative fans, the beans are bouncing into unexpected crossovers. As reported by VG24/7, Skyrim modder M 150 has released the "Fall Guys Followers" mod, which gives players a small army of jelly beans to march across the tundras of Skyrim and lay waste to all who cross them. The beans are equipped with squishy pink staves and minimal armor on their cute little heads, including helmets and even sweet rolls. Meanwhile, modder Crazy Potato is bringing the beans to Resident Evil 3 in the "Jilly Bean" mod, which replaces player characters Jill and Carlos, as well as iconic antagonist Nemesis, with jelly beans, at least partially. The combination of the characters' new jelly bean heads with the ordinary human limbs necessary to interact with the world of Resident Evil 3 is pretty jarring.

Modders have a long and cherished tradition of taking beloved video games and making them deeply, deeply strange. There seems to be no limit to what people can dream up to mod into a game. Someone might recreate an entire Mario Kart racetrack in Breath of the Wild, for instance. Most people would never look at a Fall Guys jelly bean and picture it covered in hideous mutated flesh and frightful black rags, chasing them mercilessly down a dark alleyway. Nor would they picture the colorful little characters sojourning across the wilds of Skyrim, their bright skin standing out  against the natural browns and greens of the windswept plains. But that's just what modders are capable of doing.

The internet is a weird and wild place, but it's also a phenomenal creative outlet. As fun as it is to laugh at the truly outlandish mods people come up with, some of which can transform games into whole new genres, the effort and skill that goes into putting them together must be recognized. As silly as they are, these mods let players experience their favorite games in whole new ways, and that's an admirable thing. So, as funny as it might be to see the iconic Fall Guys going toe to toe with a frost troll, it's still worth taking a moment to reflect on the ingenuity and unfettered creativity that led to such an encounter.
