Mediatonic, developer of overnight online sensation Fall Guys, have provided a few sneak peek screenshots to let players know what they can expect from season 2. The new season was revealed at Gamescom Opening Night with a trailer that showed a bit of a genre shift; future costumes and levels will feature a medieval theme, and players will be tasked with circumventing a wide array of new and treacherous obstacles.

While Fall Guys owes much of its popularity to its delightful gameplay and charming presentation, the efforts of the game's social media team should not be discounted. The Fall Guys Twitter account is constantly appearing in feeds, sharing updates, news, and jokes with fans. While a lot of the content posted to the account is genuinely interesting and useful info about the game, some of the posts are a bit less pleasant. Recently the Twitter account shared a very horrifying piece of art which it claimed was the official anatomy of Fall Guys' lovable jelly beans; the art depicted a grotesque, misshapen skeleton with hideously extended eye stalks and was met with horror, revulsion, and convoluted amusement from the community.

In an attempt to make up for the nightmares, the Fall Guys Twitter account posted something much more palatable earlier today: screenshots from season 2. The screenshots more or less reinforce what fans have come to expect from the new content based on the Gamescom trailer. Two of the screenshots depict a new team-based egg game, possibly an alternate take on pre-existing Fall Guys minigame Egg Scramble. The new minigame might build on the dark lore that's been hinted at by the developers regarding those eggs and the possibility that they might hatch in the future. The third screenshot depicts a hoop-based game, while the fourth shows off one of the more memorable minigames from the trailer, which requires players to push blocks around in order to climb over ledges.

Season one of the beloved multiplayer game ends in eleven days as of the time of this writing, so fans don't have too much longer to wait before they can see these new minigames in action. It remains to be seen how well the new games will stack up to the old ones, but that classic Fall Guys charm shines forth from every pixel. Mediatonic seems to be especially proud of its wizard costume, which appears frequently throughout these screenshots, and it's easy to see why; that's an adorable wizard.

It's not often that a game like Fall Guys becomes such a hit overnight. It's been reported that the game has made the most money on PC since Overwatch. Going forward, it won't be easy for the game to maintain such absurd momentum; after all, the candle that burns twice as bright lasts half as long. Almost two months after launch the game is still going strong, and based on these screenshots, season 2 will surely bring more of the zany action fans know and love. Fall Guys remains a delightful and charming multiplayer experience. Just don't ask too many questions about what's going on under the skin.
