The game has proven to be incredibly popular and is estimated to have been played by millions of players. Sony has even revealed that Fall Guys has become the most downloaded PS Plus game of all time.

Since its launch at the start of August, Fall Guys has become one of the biggest hits of 2020. The colorful characters, chaotic gameplay, and challenging obstacles have also made the game popular on sites such as Twitch, increasing its reach even further. Fall Guys was not just an incredibly popular game but it has also proved to be commercially successful too. According to market analyst Superdata, the colorful battle royale game had the best launch of any digital PC release since Overwatch was released in 2016. The company estimates that Meditonic and publisher Devolver Digital made $185 million following the release of the title. This was largely due to Fall Guys apparently selling an impressive 8.2 million copies. The sheer number of sales and players also meant that the title made the most revenue of any game on PC during August, beating out the likes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Horizon Zero Dawn.

In more horrifying Fall Guys news, the official Twitter account for the game recently posted an image that showed what the bean characters look like on the inside. The sketch comes from a lead artist who worked on the game and gives a frightening glimpse of the biology of the Fall Guys protagonists. According to the official artwork, the characters are six feet tall and have a similar skeleton structure to humans, albeit in a squashed up and deformed shape.

The fact that Fall Guys has had such a strong launch in terms of revenue and profit is no great surprise. The battle royale game became an instant hit upon release and has continued to be popular with players and streamers, so it always seemed likely that it would have brought in quite a lot of cash for Mediatonic and Devolver Digital. However, it is surprising that a game developed by such a small team could beat out the likes of Horizon Zero Dawn and other high-profile titles.
