A team in battle royale sensation Fall Guys was seen recently throwing a match in order to get a cheater kicked out of the game. Fall Guys has become a cultural sensation since it launched earlier this month, drawing players in droves and kicking off competition for in-game skins based on brands. The overflowing charisma of its adorable jelly bean player characters and the delightful, almost Mario-esque obstacle courses propelled it to internet fame basically overnight.

Unfortunately, when a game like Fall Guys casts such a broad net over the internet community, it's bound to reel in some unsavory characters. Not long after the game launched, scammers started trying to convince people that it was playable on mobile, a fact which developer Mediatonic has fervently denied. Just as bad, the competitive game has more than its fair share of hackers, who abuse and exploit the game in order to win, flying over the map without having to worry about falling off or using speed hacks to dash to the finish line at unreasonable and unbeatable speeds. These hackers are reviled by the greater Fall Guys community, and with very good reason.

In fact, it seems that Fall Guys hackers are so hated that some players would literally sooner die (in-game, anyway) than allow their dishonest practices to continue. Streamer Teo recently recorded a game with a hacker blithely soaring over the map without a single care in the world. Teo's frustration with the cheater quickly turned to joy when the game moved to a team-based challenge called Egg Scramble, which splits the players into three teams and tasks each with filling their communal basket with eggs. As Teo proudly displayed on Twitter, the hacker's team quickly began emptying their own basket as fast as possible, tossing out eggs for any and all to grab. The result was a thorough and overwhelming defeat for the team, which was then eliminated from the game entirely, hacker very much included.

It's surprising and inspiring to see the behavior of this Fall Guys team. Almost a third of the remaining players sacrificed themselves without question or hesitation, just to ensure that the cheater had no chance of getting a win that they didn't earn. Mediatonic has stated multiple times that it is working to address the hacking issue once and for all, and in the meantime, it has been banning hackers left and right, but for such a small indie team, there's only so much that can be done. It's nice to see the player community pitching in to show these cheaters the door.

As Teo himself says in the clip he posted to Twitter, seeing this self-sabotage gives one hope. Many online games are infamous for bringing out the absolute worst in their player bases, including chats flooded with racist insults and sexual harassment. The behavior of the Red Team in this Fall Guys clip is a display of fair play, honesty, and morality that isn't often associated with the online gaming community, but is very welcome. If more people acted like the Red Team in this fateful match, then maybe, just maybe, Fall Guys wouldn't have such a hacking problem at all.
