Mediatonic, developer of internet sensation Fall Guys, has announced that it is working to take swift and decisive action against hackers. The game launched early this month and has already outsold all expectations, becoming a significant aspect of pop culture even as player counts grow and grow.
The brief history of Fall Guys has not been without complications. The game launched with server issues right out of the gate as player populations vastly exceeded anything Mediatonic was prepared for. In addition to these unfortunate setbacks, Fall Guys has a rather severe hacking problem. Unscrupulous players have figured out how to exploit the game and give themselves unfair advantages including the power of flight and the ability to run at warp speed. Mediatonic has been working hard to curtail this issue, but since it's a small team, its options have been somewhat limited.
Recently, Mediatonic doubled down on its intent to remove hackers as quickly as possible. On the game's official Twitter page, Mediatonic identified eliminating cheaters as a top priority. The team outlined its current system, which sees hackers removed as soon as they finish a match, and promised that in the future the process would be much more immediate. They also reminded players that at the moment, reporting cheaters themselves is unnecessary.
Exactly what form this immediate action will take is currently unknown, but any relief from these pervasive hackers is sure to be a welcome change for the players who have to endure them. These scoundrels are universally disliked by the Fall Guys community, and with good reason; exploiting the game for an easy win ruins the fun for everyone else playing and goes entirely against the spirit of the chaotic competition. Players are so sick of hackers that some have even been seen sabotaging themselves just so hackers will be eliminated alongside them. The message couldn't be clearer: hackers aren't welcome.
It's a pity to see such a delightful game targeted by such unsavory customers. Unfortunately, this isn't even the only instance of people looking to exploit innocent Fall Guys players for their own personal gain; a recent scam surfaced pretending to offer fans a means of playing the game on mobile. Mediatonic has denied the existence of a mobile version of Fall Guys and outed this campaign as the total fraud that it is. When one looks at the adorable characters and whimsical levels in Fall Guys, one can't help but be disappointed that such people exist to misuse the game so severely. Hopefully, Mediatonic's efforts will pay off, and Fall Guys will be hacker-free before too long.
