Warning! Spoilers ahead for Falcon & Winter Soldier #3

Due to delays caused by the global pandemic, the Falcon & The Winter Soldier series coming to Disney+ is still months away, and won't be released until 2021 at this point. However, fans looking for something to hold them over until then should look no further than the new Falcon & Winter Soldier series from Marvel Comics, which just released its third issue. While Captain America definitively gave Sam Wilson his shield in the MCU, Falcon & Winter Soldier #3 sees Sam and Bucky needing to share a shield to achieve victory.

Thus far in the series, Sam and Bucky are have been uncovering the existence of a resurgent Hydra. As opposed to the traditional Hydra, this new version and its undisclosed leadership have proven to be more aggressive, chaotic, and disorganized, so much so that Baron Zemo was able to convince Sam and Bucky to go after this particular rival Hyrda first, before going after his own organization. Sam in particular is looking into this Hydra as he's looking for a young woman that was part of the support group he ran, whom Hydra might have recruited. They also come across a young teen in the new Hydra's employ who's simply known as The Natural, an impressive and deadly killer who is a massive fanboy of Captain America. This includes Falcon and Winter Solider who both took up Cap's mantle and shield in Marvel Comics' past. However, this didn't stop The Natural from knocking them both unconscious in their first meeting.

Now in Falcon & Winter Soldier #3 from writer Derek Landy with art by Federico Vicentini, Sam and Bucky have caught up to The Natural thanks to his parents, both of whom are also big Cap fans. They even gave Sam and Bucky replicas of their old Captain America suits, so as to be more approachable to their son. Finding him in a Hydra training facility, the boy is ecstatic to see them and gives them a  Hydra-made Captain America shield for them to share. This is due to the fact that an entire legion of Hydra Agents bursts into the room, ready to take Sam and Bucky out, and the Natural wanted to give them a fighting chance.

Whether it's because the shield isn't quite the quality of the original, or if it's just been a while, Sam hilariously almost hits Bucky in the place where no man wants to hit. However, other than that moment, Sam and Bucky take out all of the Hydra agents with ease, trading the shield back and forth quite effectively.

Once all the dust settles, Sam and Bucky give the shield back to The Natural, who returned all decked out in a Captain America suit of his own design. After they talk, Sam and Bucky seem to get through to the teen, helping him realize that Hydra is not his friend or ally. If he truly wants to be like Cap, then he has to help them and give them the locations of Hydra's base. The Natural agrees and even tells them who the new Hydra Supreme is, which turns out to be Bucky's government handler, Veronica Eden. Now, taking down Hydra has become just as personal to Bucky as it has been for Sam. As a result, they might need that shield back when Falcon & Winter Soldier continues next month.
