Sebastian Stan insists he hasn't heard anything about a potential season 2 for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Marvel's second Disney+ series has only two episodes left in its run, and things are really heating up. Starring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson and Stan as Bucky Barnes, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier reunites the two frenemies as they embark on a new globe-trotting adventure when a group of freedom fighters turn violent. Along the way, they've had to align with an old enemy, Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl), and onetime ally Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp), all while contending with the U.S. government's new Captain America, John Walker (Wyatt Russell).

Marvel is developing multiple shows for Disney+, with several more on the way this year alone. Right now, all the shows are slated for just one season. However, many have begun to wonder if they could expand beyond a miniseries. Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed last month that they are planning for select shows to get sophomore runs, but he has yet to reveal which ones those are. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier feels like a strong contender, particularly since Feige confirmed there have been ideas for season 2.

As of right now, though, there are no official plans for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier season 2. Stan recently spoke to Collider about his new film Monday, and he was asked if he or Mackie have heard anything regarding another run for their Marvel show. "No, we have not, and I'll tell you that honestly, we have not," Stan said. "As per usual, I don't quite know what the next step is. We never really do. Maybe some people do, maybe [Robert] Downey [Jr.] used to know, I don't know." However, he did add he'll do basically anything Feige tells him to, so he would be up for another season.

Bucky and Sam work together in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier

Unlike Marvel's first Disney+ series, WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has an inherent premise that can lend itself easily to another season. WandaVision centered on a magical anomaly created by Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), which then allowed for her deceased love Vision (Paul Bettany) to return. While the writers could come up with another story for the unlikely pair, the series as a whole felt more like an event. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, meanwhile, was built like a buddy action series for Sam and Bucky; the show could live on just by giving them a new mission in season 2.

Though it has yet to be confirmed, it feels like there's a good chance The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will come back for season 2. Director Kari Skogland shared her hopes for a continuation of the show, indicating there's plenty of interest behind the scenes. The final two episodes of the show can perhaps shed some light on where Sam and Bucky are going next; for now, everything remains a giant question mark.
