Sebastian Stan has confirmed The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has halted production due to coronavirus. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is gradually wrapping up filming as its August start date draws closer. The Marvel series started shooting last year in Atlanta and has made additional pit stops in Europe and Puerto Rico. Starring Stan and Anthony Mackie, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier follows their characters Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson on a new adventure set after the events of Avengers: EndgameFans have been eagerly awaiting this next chapter for Sam and Bucky, especially since it is the first Marvel show headed for Disney+.

In addition to Stan and Mackie, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier features Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, and Daniel Brühl as Baron Zemo. The series has yet to receive an official release date or a full-length trailer, though a TV spot timed with the Super Bowl offered a sneak peek at what's to come, including Sam throwing his new Captain America shield and Bucky facing off with Zemo. Fans are hoping for more information soon, though there might be slight delay based on the latest news regarding production.

Yesterday, it was reported that production on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has halted in Prague because of the coronavirus outbreak. Disney hasn't issued an official statement yet, but Stan took to Instagram to share his thoughts and confirm they are heading home. You can see it in the space below:

Just last night, Stan posted a video of him celebrating Bucky's 107th birthdayThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier will find Bucky in an interesting place. The former brainwashed assassin will have recently returned from the dead, and his best friend Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is no longer around to help him adjust to live after HYDRA. It's not clear what Bucky's story in the show will be, but he'll at least have Sam by his side. Or, he'll have Sam once the two actually manage to become friends.

The change in production is certainly a bit of a setback for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but hopefully not too big of one. Reportedly, the shoot in Prague was only supposed to last about a week, so depending on what needed to be filmed, it could be easy to adjust. Still, it's good Disney and Marvel are taking the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe and healthy. Hopefully Stan gets to return to Prague soon.
