A set of action figures based on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier have confirmed that the show will feature a new Captain America, though it may not be who you think. This Marvel spinoff is an action show coming soon to Disney+, and though like many other productions it was slightly delayed by COVID-19, production on the show has started up again.

As production has resumed, so have the fan theories surrounding The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. When the show was first announced, the biggest question was how Marvel were going to follow up on Avengers: Endgame, in which Steve Rogers retires his role as Captain America. A lot of theories were suggested as to how Marvel could replace Captain America, proposing a range of characters from Sam to Bucky to the superhero Shang-Chi. But as more information on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier came out, it became clear that the show would be introducing a new character named John F. Walker.

Thanks to eagle-eyed Marvel toy collector mcucollector24 on Instagram, it has been officially confirmed that John F. Walker will be taking on the role of Captain America. This confirmation comes from a small set of action figures including Bucky Barnes as the Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson as The Falcon, and even Baron Zemo, the villain from Captain America: Civil War who will be making a return for the Disney+ series. However, the most important figure included is that of John F. Walker as Captain America. The tiny toy is even labelled with John F. Walker’s name to ensure buyers will not confuse this toy with a figure of Steve Rogers’ Captain America.

The character John Walker has appeared in Marvel comics before as the superpowered U.S. Agent (essentially a more violent version of Captain America) and Super-Patriot (an American-themed supervillain). It has already been confirmed that John F. Walker will be featured in this TV show and will be played by actor Wyatt Russell, but Disney+ has not confirmed what superhero identity the character would have. Based on some already-released footage of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, fans have suspected for a while that John F. Walker might be the choice for Captain America’s replacement. Now, these action figure toys have confirmed this theory.

Of course, just because John F. Walker will officially be taking over for Captain America doesn’t mean that he’ll be a hero. Since U.S. Agent has always been represented as incredibly violent, it’s far more likely that Walker will be an evil anti-hero for Sam and Bucky to overcome. After all, if the show is called The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it’s going to focus on the Falcon and the Winter Soldier as the heroes.
