The new The Falcon and the Winter Soldier spot hints at John Walker's evil twist. MCU's current Captain America may have the support of the government and the general public in the franchise, but like Sam and Bucky, viewers are not onboard with him wielding the iconic shield. While he hasn't done anything straight-up villainous in the show, it seems that will change in the next episode.

Unlike WandaVision which had nine episodes, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier only has six — but with longer outings. With three episodes already released, the show is slowly approaching the season finale, with more information about its narrative revealed every week. Episode 3 titled "Power Broker" may have kept Walker and Sam and Bucky apart after their last intense encounter, but it's only a matter of time before their paths cross again as they both try to track down Karli Morgenthau and her terrorist organization known as the Flag-Smashers.

Ahead of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 4 premiere, Marvel Entertainment released a new spot titled "Better" to hype up people's interest in the episode. The clip is a mix of old and new footage, but arguably the most interesting shot of the teaser is Walker kneeling down holding a bloodied Captain America shield. Watch the video below:

Walker has been a decent character thus far in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, in fact, the show even tried to humanize him by highlighting his origins. But, there's always something weirdly wrong about him being the Star-Spangled Avenger. Other than not being Steve's chosen successor, Walker doesn't understand what being Captain America means. In episode 3, he got very frustrated for not commanding the respect he thinks he deserves simply for wielding the shield. It may just be because of the immense pressure to perform well, but this could also be an indication that he's willing to do more nefarious things down the road to get what he wants. That could explain the blood on the Captain America shield which is off-putting to see.

Aside from this bloodied Captain America shield, the spot also hints that the show will return to its core narrative. With so many moving pieces, further complicated by the involvement of Zemo and Wakandans,  there's a lot going on in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. But, its main narrative will always be tackling the legacy of the Captain America mantle as it ties to Sam being Steve Rogers' chosen successor. At this point in the story, Sam appears to still be hesitant about taking up his rightful place as MCU's new Star-Spangled Avenger, but perhaps Walker's evil turn could nudge him in the right direction. Seeing how the government botched their choice and seeing him tainting Steve's legacy might give Sam the courage to finally embrace his new superhero persona.
