The Falcon and the Winter Soldier actor Wyatt Russell would love to return to the MCU after the show completes its six episode run. Russell plays John Walker, the MCU's new Captain America. The actor made his MCU debut in episode 1, "New World Order," when the US government blindsided Sam Wilson and gave away Steve Rogers' shield without telling him. Episode 2, "The Star-Spangled Man," gave viewers more time with John Walker.

The episode features him going on a press tour similar to Steve Rogers' own when he first became Captain America. Doubts creep in as to whether he not he's up for taking on the mantle, but by the end of the episode those seem to have disappeared. During a skirmish with the Flag Smashers, John Walker saves Sam and Bucky and eventually tries to convince them work with him. They refuse, setting him up to go down a darker path and putting them at odds with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's titular pair.

How that will develop further in the series remains a mystery, but it surely seems like the series is setting up John Walker to be in an antagonistic role. Where that will lead him will unfold over the next four episodes and Russell told SR that he hopes that Falcon and the Winter Soldier isn't the end of the line for him. Russell says he doesn't know if Marvel has any plans for his character beyond the series, but that he would be more than willing to return if asked.

John Walker's had a lot of roles in Marvel Comics. He was an Avenger and a Thunderbolt. Is there another chapter for him after this series?

Wyatt Russell: Again, above my paygrade. I don't know. Hopefully, people like it, and it works. And then if Marvel decides that they would like to use him again, that'd be fantastic and great. I'd love to. I had a wonderful experience working with them. And from what I've heard, the show's really turned out great. That is a nice vote of confidence, so I'm hoping. I'd love to; of course I would.

John Walker has had various roles in the comics throughout the years. Also know by his other hero name, US Agent, Walker joins both the Avengers and becomes a Thunderbolt at various points in his run. Right now, though, Walker seems unlikely to remain a hero. While there's a possibility that there could be a turnaround for the character by the end of the series, it certainly seems like Falcon and the Winter Soldier is setting up Walker to become a bad guy.

Whether or not that leads to John Walker becoming a Super Soldier will be revealed in the coming weeks, but Bucky and Sam have an eye on Steve's shield and promos for the series have shown that it ends up back in their hands. This sets up John Walker to be in direct opposition to the show's protagonists and Bucky and Sam likely won't let up when it comes to their fights with Walker. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier may be about the new Captain America, but, buy the end of the series, it is almost certain that that won't be John Walker.
