The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman is interested in making an Isaiah Bradley prequel. The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe show on Disney+ focused on the stories of Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) after Avengers: Endgame. It featured Sam officially becoming the MCU's new Captain America, turned Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) into a villain, and introduced major new characters—such as Marvel's original Black Captain America, Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly).

Isaiah didn't have the largest role in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but he did have one of the most important. Bucky introduced Sam to him during a visit to Bradley's house in Baltimore and explained the Winter Soldier's previous encounter with the fellow super-soldier. Isaiah's tragic backstory involving government experiments and wrongful imprisonment was explored, and he then questioned the Captain America mantle itself. This didn't stop Sam from making the title his own and using his power to solidify Isaiah's place in history with a section at the Captain America exhibit.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier handled Isaiah's story incredibly well, so much so that many viewers are hoping for much more of the character. During a recent interview with THR, Spellman was asked about his interest in showing more of Isaiah Bradley's story through a prequel. The outlet notes that he responded very quickly and simply said, "For sure," when asked if he would seriously consider the project if Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige called.

A prequel series centered around Isaiah Bradley would be a perfect vehicle to flesh out more of his story. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier confirmed he was a soldier during the Korean War, and this is when the military began experimenting on him and other Black soldiers. It was during this time that Isaiah and Bucky fought when Hydra sent their Winter Soldier after America's latest super-soldier. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier already teased Isaiah got the better of Bucky during this fight, but a prequel could be where viewers get to see exactly how they first encountered each other. Furthermore, this would be a place for Marvel Studios to dive even deeper into the history of the Captain America mantle and the dark history associated with it that most are unaware of.

As of this writing, Marvel Studios is not confirmed to be developing a solo series for Isaiah Bradley. Even if that doesn't change, Isaiah could still return in various future MCU projects. Spellman is reportedly going to be busy writing Captain America 4, so it is possible Isaiah's story could continue there. He's now become a fairly important person in Sam's life, so him returning for his presumed solo movie makes sense. Meanwhile, Isaiah could also appear in a Young Avengers project, especially as his grandson Elijah potentially begins experimenting with super-soldier serum. And even if Isaiah Bradley is never seen again, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier works as a great showing for the character.
