The Falcon and The Winter Soldier introduces a new villain group known as the Flag-Smashers, but how is one of their members a super soldier? Marvel Studios' second Disney+ series debuted with an action-packed episode that dove deep into the lives of Sam Wilson, aka Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and Bucky Barnes, aka Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's first episode also introduced some new MCU characters and organizations, such as the villainous group known as the Flag-Smashers.

Joaquín Torres (Danny Ramirez) is the one who tracks down the Flag-Smashers in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. He's heard that they want the world to return to how it was during the Blip, where borders didn't matter as much. The Flag-Smashers have a relatively small role in the first episode, but Torres does infiltrate one of their heists in Switzerland. This is where he sees one of their masked members leap out of the top story of a building, land safely on the ground, and then demonstrate his super strength by kicking a police officer and sending him flying. The masked member, revealed to be Dovich (Desmond Chiam) in the credits, is clearly a super-soldier, or at least someone who possesses a super-soldier's enhanced physical attributes.

The Flag-Smashers having a super-soldier raises many questions, especially about where he came from and how he was created. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has so far not explored the origin of Dovich. That isn't terribly surprising since there are still five episodes to go, but the show teases several possible explanations for Dovich's abilities. One that is hidden in the credits could link Dovich and the Flag-Smashers to a villain known as Power Broker. The show's credits tease "Powerbroker is watching," and the Marvel villain has ties to the origins of John Walker/U.S. Agent and Torres. If Power Broker is going to appear in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, perhaps he is responsible for giving Flag-Smasher their super-soldier.

Falcon and Winter Soldier Flag Smasher

The likelihood of Power Broker having ties to Flag-Smasher's super-soldier only increased after John Walker's appearance as the new Captain America at the end of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's premiere episode. Marvel Studios could follow the comics and make Power Broker the one who gives Walker his superpowers in the MCU. However, there's no way that Power Broker would be able to perfect the super-soldier serum on his first attempt. There were likely many tests done, which could tie into The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's overall story, and Dovich could be one of the successful trials. It's even possible that Power Broker started giving others the serum to ensure that there are threats for the new Captain America to take down.

If Power Broker is responsible for the Flag-Smashers having one super-soldier, could that mean that the entire group is made up of them? This episode also saw the debut of fellow Flag-Smasher member Karli Morgenthau (Erin Kellyman). She's been featured in the trailers putting a beating on both Falcon and Winter Soldier. She could be another superpowered individual in the ranks of the Flag-Smashers. If that is the case, then it is possible that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will reveal other members of the anarchist group are powered, too. This would make taking down the Flag-Smashers extra challenging for Sam and Bucky, but that could force them to work with John Walker or even push Sam Wilson to become a super-soldier as well.
