Here's every member on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier cast as well as every returning Marvel character set to appear in the show. A few years ago, the announcement of Disney's streaming service came with the promise that new Marvel Cinematic Universe content would come exclusively to the platform. Subscribers had to wait for more than a year after Disney+'s launch to see the first MCU show, WandaVision. After the conclusion of a fascinating story that spotlights some underutilized characters, Marvel is looking to repeat that success with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
Written by Malcolm Spellman and directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. The show picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame and will see both Falcon and Winter Soldier adapt to a very different life. Avengers: Endgame's ending saw them both return after five years due to Thanos' snap. Shortly thereafter, their mutual best friend Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) went back in time to grow old with Peggy Carter, only to return as pass the Captain America mantle and shield to Falcon. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier takes place six months after this moment and brings Sam and Bucky back together for a brand new adventure.
Now that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is out on Disney+, fans around the world are experiencing the latest chapter of the MCU. In addition to catapulting Sam and Bucky into leading roles, the show has a big cast list filled with recognizable stars and MCU characters. Here's a cast guide for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and who each cast member plays.
Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson aka Falcon
Anthony Mackie returns for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier to star as Sam Wilson aka Falcon. Mackie got his start in the MCU with Captain America: The Winter Soldier and returned for small roles in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man during Phase 2. He received another major role in Captain America: Civil War and later appeared in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. After so much time as Falcon, the series will explore Sam's journey to becoming the MCU's new Captain America. Outside of the MCU, viewers might recognize Mackie from roles in The Hurt Locker, Pain & Gain, Black Mirror, and Outside the Wire.
Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes aka Winter Soldier
Sebastian Stan is the other half of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's leading duo. He made his MCU debut as Bucky Barnes in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger. Stan returned in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as part of Bucky's transformation into Hydra's super-assassin. His other MCU appearances came throughout Phase 3 with roles in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Stan's other notable credits include Gossip Girl, The Martian, I, Tonya, and The Devil All the Time.
Daniel Brühl as Baron Zemo
Daniel Brühl returns to the MCU as Baron Zemo in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. His first and only appearance in another MCU property so far came as the main villain of Captain America: Civil War. He'll now be back on Disney+ and wear the character's iconic purple mask from the comics. Outside of the Marvel franchise, Brühl is best known for his work in Rush, Inglorious Basterds, and The Alienist: Angel of Darkness.
Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is also bringing back Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter. She joined the MCU as Agent 13 in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and was set up to be Captain America's new love interest. Sharon returned for Captain America: Civil War, where she and Steve finally kissed, but that was the last time fans saw her. Avengers: Endgame confirmed Sharon was snapped by Thanos, though. Viewers might also recognize VanCamp for her leading roles on the TV shows Revenge and The Resident.
Wyatt Russell as John Walker
One of the new additions to the MCU coming with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is Wyatt Russell as John Walker. He's the son of Kurt Russell, who played Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Wyatt Russell joins the MCU after memorable roles in 22 Jump Street, Everybody Wants Some!!, and Overlord. His character John Walker, better known as US Agent in the comics, will become Captain America during the Disney+ series.
Don Cheadle as James Rhodes aka War Machine
Don Cheadle returns as James Rhodes aka War Machine in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Since taking over the role in Iron Man 2, Cheadle has appeared in five more MCU movies: Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Rhodey is currently adjusting to a world without Iron Man, just as Sam and Bucky are learning to live without Steve Rogers. His return on Disney+ comes before the War Machine solo series, Armor Wars. Viewers might also recognize Cheadle from his roles in Black Monday, House of Lies, Hotel Rwanda, Crash, and the Ocean's trilogy.
Adepero Oduye as Sarah Wilson
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be the MCU debut of Adepero Oduye as Sarah Wilson, Sam Wilson's sister. Her involvement is one of the many signs of how the Disney+ series will explore its main heroes' regular lives and backstories. Oduye is best known for her work in the 2011 indie-hit Pariah and has had roles in 12 Years a Slave, The Big Short, Goestorm, and When They See Us.
George St-Piette as Batroc the Leaper
Batroc the Leaper is returning to the MCU thanks to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier too. Professional fighter Georges St-Pierre first played the Marvel villain in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He was detained by Hydra/SHIELD early on and hasn't been seen again. In addition to playing Batroc, St-Pierre's acting credits include Never Surrender and Kickboxer: Vengeance.
Erin Kellyman as Flag-Smasher
Another new face joining the MCU in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is Erin Kellyman. She is shown to be a skilled fighter and one of the members of the Flag-Smashers, but her character name has not been revealed. Kellyman's breakout role came as Enfys Nest in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and her connections to Disney will continue as one of the leads of the Willow Disney+ series.
Danny Ramirez as Joaquín Torres
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier also features the MCU debut of Danny Ramirez as Joaquín Torres. The character is a recent addition to Marvel's comics where Torres became the new Falcon after Sam Wilson became Captain America. If the MCU follows the comics, Ramirez should have a big role moving forward. Viewers might recognize Ramirez from his roles in The Gifted, Assassination Nation, and On My Block. He's also set to appear in Top Gun: Maverick later this year.
