The Falcon and the Winter Soldier actor Desmond Chiam has revealed a cool set memento from Captain America's shield. Chiam plays Dovich, friend of Karli Morgenthau and a leading member of the Flag-Smashers, the group that have been established as the series' villains. However, despite appearing as a main character on the most popular show in the world, for Chiam, being in Falcon & Winter Soldier is surreal.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is Chaim's biggest role yet. Prior to his casting as Dovich, he acted in the series Now Apocalypse on STARZ and in Spike TV's The Shannara Chronicles. Unfortunately, both of these projects that have since been cancelled. For any actor, working through television cancellations can be an emotional and frustrating process, so as Chiam recently shared, being cast in the MCU was a major turnaround. Even after acting in Falcon and the Winter Soldier season 1, the experience is still a surreal one.

On Instagram, Chiam shared a photo of himself holding Cap's shield and in the caption explains the significance of the moment for him. He also shares how he received a cool memento from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's prop master: a paint chip from Cap's shield. Turns out, as the prop is regularly dinged and nicked, the flecks of paint that chip off are collected into a binder and handed out on just such occasions. For Chiam, receiving the paint chip - or as the prop guy called it, "some OG Vibranium" - was an emotional one to cap off an already incredible experience. In addition to revealing the dramatic wear-and-tear that Captain America's shield goes through on set in the post, Chiam's heartfelt caption reveals the sentimental meaning Captain America had on him in his youth. When his childhood friend passed away, he turned back to the character he had once idolized, describing that: "As a totemic force, he kept me functional". Chiam's post shares a beautifully-written recount of his individual experience as a fan, but also speaks for many who have felt represented or empowered by Marvel's iconic heroes.

Another significant item from the post is the fact that there is a binder being carried around MCU sets where paint chips from Cap's shield are collected. Perhaps if it is being used on the set of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, then some more action with the new Captain America can be expected soon. With only three more episodes remaining in the series, a showdown between the new Cap, the Flag-Smashers, and our titular heroes Sam and Bucky is bound to be on its way.
