A new set photo from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier shows Batroc the Leaper with Erin Kellyman's mystery character. After an extended shutdown, production finally resumed on Marvel Studios' upcoming Disney+ series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier over the last few weeks. The return to work for the Phase 4 show has provided fans with plenty of new details about the series, which now will not be released until 2021.

Set photos and videos have featured the returns of Sam Wilson aka Falcon/Captain America (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), as well as John Walker aka US Agent (Wyatt Russell). But, one of the surprises to come recently was the confirmation that Batroc the Leaper (Georges St-Pierre) would appear. He was spotted filming new scenes for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier a few days ago with cast member Desmond Chiam. Now, a new set photo has surfaced that reveals another new mystery character that Batroc will interact with.

The image from a recently created Instagram account On Set. Unseen shares a new look at The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. It features St. Pierre filming the same scenes he was previously shown to be working on, but this time the photo confirms Solo: A Star Wars Story actress Erin Kellyman has a role in the series. Prior to this image leaking, Murphy's Multiverse shared a scene description from the set that lines up with this photo. It described a scene where Kellyman's character used a power to impress Batroc and Chiam's character. Her power seemingly caused all the extras to look at their phones and simultaneously walk toward the group as if in a trance. This has fueled speculation that Kellyman could be playing Songbird, a member of the Thunderbolts.

While it isn't confirmed who Kellyman is playing in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, this photo does confirm her casting and add credibility to the previously mentioned scene description. The reason that speculation has turned to Kellyman playing Songbird is that one of Melissa Gold's powers in the comics used to be mind manipulation. Her abilities have since grown so that she can use her voice to manipulate sound to form solid objects.

If she is playing Songbird (which is still unconfirmed and just a theory), Kellyman has a role that could be quite important in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Songbird is traditionally a member of the Thunderbolts, a group of supervillains who pose as heroes in the comics. The team is originally created by Baron Zemo, who is in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, so Songbird's presence could point to the formation of the Thunderbolts during the series. Or, she could be the latest piece of set-up for the Thunderbolts to form later on, possibly in their own Disney+ series or movie.
