A brand new look at Falcon's Captain America suit has been revealed in an official The Falcon and the Winter Soldier set photo. The final moments of Avengers: Endgame saw Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passing over his shield and title to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), signalling the start of a new era for the MCU. As the first Marvel Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is expected to follow Sam's transition from Falcon to Captain America as he deals with pushback from the United States government, and fans have been eager to get any glimpses they can of Sam in costume.

Had 2020 gone as planned, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier would have been well underway right now, and fans would already know how Sam looks as Cap. The series was slated for release in August, but the coronavirus pandemic shut down production back in March. As a result, Marvel was forced to delay the show. It remains to be seen when The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be released, but recent set videos have indicated production has started up again.

As fans impatiently await The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Mackie's co-star Sebastian Stan has gifted fans with the best look yet at Sam's new Captain America suit. Armed with the caption "Friends. Social distancing since November ’19," Stan shared a photo of him and Mackie on set, with Mackie donning his latest costume. You can see it down below.

Fans could somewhat glimpse Sam and Bucky's (Stan) new costumes on various pieces of merchandise that have been displayed in stores, but this is the first time they've seen it on Mackie himself. It appears Sam is keeping some of his Falcon roots for his new role, as his suit is similar to what he's worn before. When The Falcon and the Winter Soldier begins, Sam won't exactly be Captain America; he's still training (as evidenced by the Super Bowl trailer from earlier this year), and the US government is eager to put their own man forward for the job.

Still, Sam has the backing of Steve, Bucky, and a whole lot of fans, so he better come out on top. Mackie has previously spoken about how momentous it is to have a Black man take over as Captain America, and hopefully The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will make note of that. It's thrilling to catch a glimpse of him in costume, and ideally, the next shot will actually come from a trailer or official image. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is still a work in progress, but it looks pretty great so far.
