The Fairly OddParents theme song was one of the most iconic theme songs to come out of Nickelodeon — but The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder has made some changes. The original animated series spanned the childhoods of millennials and Gen Z alike. The 2022 Paramount+ exclusive reboot Fairly Odder is bringing back the magic for a new generation of kids while aiming to stoke the flames of nostalgia for lifelong fans. By moving from animation to live-action and adding a new cast of characters, Fairly Odder is switching up a lot more than just its theme song for the reboot.

Starting in 2001, The Fairly OddParents followed the hijinks of Timmy Turner (Tara Strong) as he grew up alongside his fairy godparents, Wanda (Susanne Blakeslee) and Cosmo (Daran Norris), who he was given to make his miserable life better. Fairly Odder picks up a few years after the original series, and now, Timmy is all grown-up and heading off to Princeton to attend college. When Viv Turner (Audrey Grace Marshall) and Roy Raskin (Tyler Wladis) find themselves navigating life in Dimmsdale after their parents take a second chance at romance, a now-grown Timmy Turner entrusts his fairies to his cousins.

Of all the changes made to the Fairly Odder theme song, the lyrics are the greatest. Both renditions were composed by Ron Jones and series creator Butch Hartman, but the updated version has a stronger jazz vibe than its predecessor, backing up the lyrics with a swing rhythm and brass band. While the familiar beat of the intro and its classic jazz stylings have remained the same, many of the words have been changed to reflect the new premise of the Fairly Odder reboot. The iconic rhyming verse of Fairly OddParents has been changed, going from "Obtuse, rubber goose, green moose, guava juice! Giant snake, birthday cake, large fries, chocolate shake," to "Swimwear, lazy chair, chocolate square, time to share; Gold throne, clear phone, dino bone, silly clone."

Both Fairly OddParents and Fairly Odder's theme songs wrap up with the same lines, making them the only lyrics that truly remained the same — barring the line "in real life," which is added to the end of Fairly Odder's intro to reflect its move to live-action. The switch from animation to a live-action hybrid means the opening sequence looks different, prominently featuring the new main characters, Viv and Roy, in addition to their parents/new step-parents. The new intro doesn't feature Timmy or Vicky, both of whom were the main focus of the original intro, but ultimately play smaller roles in the reboot series.

Though Fairly Odder's intro pays tribute to the original, the theme song was ultimately revamped to match the reboot. Blending together a familiar beat with new lyrics and vocals, the updated intro caters to new and old fans alike. The theme song is only one of the many changes lifelong fans will notice in the reboot; at the same time, the presence of familiar components in the theme song helps to keep The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder connected to its animated roots.
