Is Apple's popular FaceTime feature available on Windows 10 devices and PCs? No, the feature is not available on devices other than Apple's own. However, there are many other videos-chatting app that can be downloaded across all platforms and can be used between Apple and Windows devices.

FaceTime is a video-chatting service that was launched in June of 2010, allowing Apple users to connect with other Apple users easily and chat with them. FaceTime isn't only available between iPhone devices, but can also be used between Macs, iPods, and even Apple Watch devices, although that is limited to audio only. The feature became widely successful and a staple of the Apple brand. However, like many Apple features, Facetime is exclusively available on Apple devices. As a result, if people want to use FaceTime with friends or family, they will have to buy an Apple device.

Due to its wild popularity, many Microsoft Windows users have wanted FaceTime to be available on their devices so that they can video chat with friends through their computer. Even though there is a demand for FaceTime on other devices, it doesn't look like Apple has any immediate intention to add the feature to devices outside of the Apple brand. While FaceTime may never come to Windows devices, there are many alternative video-chatting services to choose from that not only work on Windows devices, but across multiple platforms.

FaceTime Alternatives

One of the most popular video-chatting services at the moment is Zoom. Launched in 2013, the service is now widely used for video conferences, as many users can take part in the same call at once. It was mainly used in schools and businesses, but has grown in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic and the increased need for people to stay in contact with each other while at home. Although it may not have as many features as FaceTime, the service is still very easy to use whether it is for one-on-one calls or large groups.

Skype is another popular video-calling service. While the company was bought by Microsoft in 2011, it is still available on Apple and Android devices. Skype offers very high-quality video calls similar to FaceTime, as well as features like direct messaging. Mainly used by gamers, Discord is also a very popular video-chatting service. Discord is more popularly known for its direct messaging, group chats, and audio chats, but it still has video-chatting options and works well. Discord has many more features available than FaceTime and can hold up to thousands of users on a single call. While it is most popular with gamers, the company has been making efforts to move away from that demographic.

These are just a few of the many video-chatting services available that all work similar to FaceTime. There are plenty of other services and many of which can be used across multiple brands and platforms, instead of just one. While FaceTime doesn't look like it will be leaving Apple anytime soon, it shouldn't be hard to find a proper alternative to stay in contact with friends and family, regardless of the devices they use.
